I wanted to try Kangaroo Meat and I was suggested this place by my Australian friend and also โ€œGoogle and Trip Advisorโ€ According to Google, it was A former candle factory with cathedral ceilings and stone walls, serving select steak and wine. The recommendation and the description made me even more excited to visit this amazing place and I was amazed with the food and service.I had Seared Kangaroo, it was delicious. The staff are very polite and nice to talk to. Best steak I have had in a long, long time. You got to try this place if you are in Sydney and want to try Kangaroo Meat or just regular steak, you wonโ€™t regret it.It was a satisfying experience, I would recommend this place for meat cravings. Em Kay: Great food and service. We were in the private room section (a little annoying as it is near the bathrooms). Highly recommended. A bit tricky to find if youโ€™ve never been here before - it is through an archway and up a set of steps, and the signs at the entrance of the archway are down at ground level, so you can easily walk past and not see them. Took me three walk pasts before I saw the signs.

Food tasted really good, the mash potato was my favourite, creamy and smooth. The steak couldโ€™ve been cut much thinner, was a bit tough; it was cooked to how we liked it (medium rare) wish there was more mushroom sauce, the portion was a bit small for 700g steak. The amarett no sour was amazing, highly recommend for a non- alcoholic drink.

Lilin Tan: Food was superb. Steak was nicely cooked and flavourful. I have asked for it to be well done as I am pregnant, and was worried the steak will be too tough but surprise, surprise, it was tender and definitely tasty. But our favourite was definitely the mashed potato and gravy - it was just on point! Hands down best I had so far.

So I ended up ordering a bowl of chips which was $12. So instead of me being able to get a small amount of protein and some chips I had all chips and spent less than if I was a child. Hardly ate the chips and the bernaise sauce just tasted like vinegar. Honestly ruined my whole night.

Kari Webster: On arrival, my clumsy sister missed the chair and fell on the floor. As a result, they refused to serve us alcohol until we had eaten. Fair enough, I get it, RSA, but an overreaction, I feel. Entrees were delicious - highly recommend the garlic prawns, calamari, breads and charceauterie. That's about where it stopped. For a steak house, this is the last place you would want to go. Rare steak came out cold, chewy, full of gristle for $68!!! Just not good enough for a premium priced steak house. Five guests had steak, and none of them were impressed at all. Two, racks of ribs, chewy and tough, not slow cooked. Good size, but average quality at best. Staff tried to make up for the initial turmoil with special birthday treatment for a high paying group, but overall, the food was a total disappointment.

They were simply fantastic, showcasing the culinary skill of the kitchen.However, one minor drawback was the size of the octopus dish, which felt a bit too small for its cost. Despite this, the flavours were on point, leaving a memorable impression.Moving on to the sides, they were a highlight of the meal. The polenta, in particular, stood out as an exceptional accompaniment. The creamy texture and rich flavours complemented the main course perfectly, adding depth to the overall dining experience.Speaking of the main course, the Bistecca was the star of the show. It was cooked to perfection, with a mouth-watering sear on the outside and a tender, juicy interior. While some of us found the steak to be slightly undercooked for our liking, it was still incredibly delicious, and everyone ended up devouring their plates.When it came to the wine selection, we decided to explore the cheaper options and settled on an $80.00 bottle of 1-liter wine. However, we were taken aback when the sommelier served it in regular glasses (water) rather than wine glasses. Maybe $80.00 does not make the cut for wine glasses.The tiramisu was a highlight of the dessert menu. It was simply amazing, showcasing a perfect balance of flavours and textures.In terms of service, it was generally good. The staff was attentive and accommodating. However, there is room for improvement.Overall, dining at Bistecca was a delightful experience. The entrees and sides were great, with the polenta being a standout.The Bistecca itself was cooked to perfection, despite some minor discrepancies in the doneness. The tiramisu was a definite winner, leaving a lasting impression. While the service was good, there is potential for improvement.Bistecca is definitely worth a visit for its delicious food.

Russell Charles: Oh man..hands down, Bistecca is the 2008 Maserati Quattroporte of Italian Steak Restaurants. Why you say? Find out below.Outdated specs list....the lovers will love it, the detractors will say they can get twice as good for the same price. For Bistecca, that means only one cut of steak available at medium rare (Riverina Angus T-Bone instead of real Tuscan Chianina beef). For the Maserati - it meant one engine and a tease to Italian royalty (a Ferrari "designed" engine) with variations of handmade finishes to feature that one killer item.Some features just doesn't work even though it should ... they make you feel like you are fortunate certain things are on the list... a few quaint nods to the past that are adorable and its suprisingly affordable...for Bistecca that is melting beef tarrow fat candles for dipping into. Bone marrow on the menu, over-sauced, cosy subteranean dining room with Prohibition-style signage, ambience and decor... for what is fundamentally a limited and industry standard offering. You are graciously allowed to have desserts and use your phone in the bar outside.Like the Maserati Quattroporte, it is surprisingly good value for something that hints to something far dearer and sophisticated. It has handmade touches that, for its fans, will always be timelessStrip away the bella figura puffery, it's not nearly as good as its maker will pontificate, but it's interesting and it's good. The reality is that most Italian cusine is just meant to be fresh and tossed in good cheese or olive oil. You can only tart up certain menu items and dishes so much. Bistecca features and does all the classics well. Not outstanding, but solid and well.It's got the kitsch non-Building Code compliant fire stairs into nice public bar downstairs. The staff are generally also welcoming too, but there clearly is the whole basement/Prohibition/our rules for the too Cool for School kids vibe. Not very Sydney these days and more Melbourne.They confiscate your phone at the time of ordering at the table - for the Cellphone Withdrawl Sympton sufferers amongst us, just take a spare dead phone with you and hand that into the box when your waitperson comes up.

Byron Phillips: I have been eating at Hurricanes for 25 years and can safely say itโ€™s still just as good as it was back then!It was my first time visiting the Circular Quay restaurant and I found it a little bit hard to locate, but that may have been because of the vivid crowds. The restaurant is nice, staff are friendly and the service is very fast. I ordered the steak and pork rib combo and was not disappointed! The ribs are still as tender and succulent as they ever have been. The sauce is delicious and the meat just falls off the bone. The steak was cooked perfectly and was basted in that familiar steak basting sauce.I missed the complimentary bread they used to serve, but overall it was an amazing meal and I will continue to be a patron for the next 25 years if the doors remain open!

Chris Mhan: Food was good, service was not. After getting seated 20 minutes after our reservation and having our names screamed out we were directed to the QR code menu to order on the table. That ended the interaction with staff and we never saw anyone again other than to drop off our food and drinks - most impersonal $400 dinner Iโ€™ve ever had. Was never asked how our meals were and the one error was never rectified as we never saw anyone again the entire meal. You also have to pay additional fee for the privilege of ordering yourself and saving the business money after of course trying to get you to tip (for what?).Food was good but would not return due to the poor service.
