The Basin campground: what do users think?
Gordon “Hawkesbury Campground” McDonald: The Basin campground is the only place you can camp in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. This large, grassy area overlooks Pittwater, offering lovely surroundings and views. It’s easy to see why this waterfront campground is so popular. At The Basin, you’ll find great facilities along with a picnic area, sheltered beach and an inland lagoon. The campground accommodates up to 350 campers.Pitch your tent in a shady spot, enjoy a bike ride or a swim and see if you can spot the local swamp wallabies or kookaburras. There’s no car access to The Basin campground. You can park at West Head Road but it's a steep 2.8km walk to the campground from there. If you're not up for the hike, arrive by water taxi, boat or a ferry which leaves from Palm Beach Wharf.Restrooms: Flush toiletsPicnic area: Fires are only permitted in designated wood barbecues or fire pits. Fire pits can be booked onsite only and cannot be booked in advance. Firewood can be purchased at the campground.Gas/electric barbecues (free)Wood barbecues
Mark Powell: The Basin is spectacular this time of year. Hot sunny days and cold nights, perfect for sitting around one of the fire pits enjoying a bottle of red with friends or loved ones. Easy access via ferry. Highly recommend
Siamak Moradi: Nice place to camp on the weekends.
Jacky Fourie: Beautiful place to escape too! Perfect spot for a picnic!
Marty Middlebrook: Great support staff greet guests at the ferry stop, very clear designated camping area, lovely lush grass and fun in the sun. Just be sure to get to the ferry early - droves of people with carts take up too much room.Restrooms: Large with hot showers.Dog-friendliness: It’s a National Park, so no dogs
Vincent Chagnaud: Really nice place to stay over the weekend.
Dan Coleman: Perfect campsite for younger children. All the amenities you could need; showers/flush toilets, fresh water, vending machine, helpful rangers. A great place to test if your kids (and yourself) are into camping before trying somewhere with less comforts.
P Mitch: Amazing place
salvatore grimaudo: Beautiful weather, camp site was clean and well maintained. Ferry ride was quick and easy. Recommend for a nice day out.
Tash Jamieson: Lovely spot for a picnic and a swim! If you are boating over, just be careful where you anchor (don't dock at the pier and read the signs). Ate lunch next to some curious goannas.
Caleb lbj: No Dogs sadly if you want a lizard eating it no car camping at this spot
Józef Ochocki: Great campground, you can get there by ferry from Palms Beach
Nik Ayliffe: Good camp site and location for families - facilities good, swimming and nice hiking. Some logistical challenges with gear and ferry. Was way too crowded however and our camp was spoilt on the last night by a large group (who likely hadn’t even booked) setting up their tent less than 2 meters away from our camp site. Do not go here if you’re looking for your own camping space.
Andrew Leslie: Great, but long walk in and out
Billie Gosling: Beautiful camping spot. We visit several times a year and always have the loveliest time. Clean, peaceful spot and the facilities are always clean
Reza Karim: Perfect
Charlie Fa: Beautiful camping that has a very nice family and community atmosphere. People seem quite respectful and self aware.Even at full capacity it doesn’t feel overcrowded. The only downside is the amenities could be cleaned a bit better / more frequently but that is typically expected on camping grounds.
Dina Shcherbakova: Great place but still crowded and hard to get there with camping gear
Saumyya Bharadwaj: Quite, relaxing camping grounds. You can enjoy a day trip too..
Luz Marina Osorio: Lindo lugar para camping
Zara Smith: Extremely overbooked, not ideal if you’re looking for a quiet weekend

Lake Eckersley campground: what do users think?
Samantha Gillett: Beautiful walk along the Pineline trail, Gymea Lillys in bloom on either side, path leads to a beautiful picturesque body of water.
Joey Parker: Nice and secluded. A bit tricky to find a good camping site
Aleksandra Deren: Remote but actually not that far from civilization. Quite small so you will have trouble pitching larger tent. Good if you want to have some time alone without the noise of others or maybe start training for the longer overnight hiksNo facilities.Presence of the river make it great resting spot.
Vitaliy Podstreshniy: Was a bit busy
Chloe Wang: Very nice place. However that whipbird... Let's you down big time
Morgan Eyles: Very nice for a swim, however campsite was a bit muddy and only really one rock to sit on to stay off the ground.
Kristy K C (kathkristu): Peaceful and isolated lake.
hendry gan: Nice view yet easy to get there from pipeline trail.water may be deep.
Troy K P: The hidden jewel of Heathcote national park, very clean and snorkelled there finding some freshwater Bass.
Mathew Sharwood: Nice and quick looks like a good place to swim in the summer
Rizwan Nawaz: Nice little spot to swim. Someone has set up ropes to swing from the trees which is fun!

Cockatoo Island Camping: what do users think?
Siamak Moradi: Nice place to camp but a bit expensive!
Alyssa: An island near the city! One of UNESCO world heritage sites! I must say the must visit places are the tunnel and the clifftop walk! We enjoyed it. We also hired a self guided tour for $6 p/p in their visitor centre. You can also stay overnight in tents and they have a lot of activities to offer like movie night, ghost tours, etc. See pics and vids. 😉They also have 2 restos in the island. I have posted the menu for one of them. Unfortunately, missed to take a photo of the other restaurant. We visited this island via ferry from Barangaroo wharf 1.
Anush Fernandes: Great tents and a stunning view. We were a big group so sitting around the camp fire was fun. An early morning walk to the prison is still pretty spooky as it is to walk in the shopping yard and tunnels at night. Fun for all ages.
Adam Anderson: Had a really good stay. The tents were clean, the toilets and showers were fine and the Cafe was well priced. The walk around the island was most interesting - particularly the convict buildings and the shipbuilding section.Rooms: 5/4|Service: 5/4|Location: 5/4 …More
Darren D: FYI food service closes 1hr before bar/cafe and no/limited food options on the island. Otherwise a great location in the middle of Sydney.
Khairil Razali: It is an amazing experience. We enjoyed the one night camping with family and friends. The island highly recommended for visiting. The camping site is fabulous. The historical values of the island is lovely. We will visit again.
Mills J: Good facilities, attentive service, easy booking.Nice choice to bring children
Latino Asian Couple: Came for short escape to relieve stress with husband. Such a wonderful place. We book from online booking site a spot with own tent with just $60, the spot is right behind, got share clean bathroom, shower room. Only not comfort at night for the noise coz there's a lot of seagulls, probably it's seagulls base there. Here provide complete amenities like kitchen, bbq , fire spot, free movie 2-3 movies a night, fridge, microwave. For sure no car park coz it's an island. Definitely will come again with my family next time.
Eddie Chan: I'm gonna tell you something you won't find on the website. Goods: Lovely sunrise/sunset/star views in the city, good amenities. You can pay $5 to rent basketball (they have a court)or sandbag to play games. Vending machine has instant noodle. Bads: funny smell on my pillow and bedding. Their bed is like hammock style, not comfy for old gentleman/lady, waterfront tents means you sleep next to highway. Racing boat keep passing by all night/early morning just to wait u up for sunrise.
Charlotte Thompson: Amazing tent

Bonnie Vale campground: what do users think?
Gordon “Hawkesbury Campground” McDonald: Bonnie Vale is a family-friendly campground located between Bundeena and Maianbar at the north end of Royal National Park. This popular riverside campground is known for its large sand spit, which makes it a great swimming spot.Whether you choose to pitch a tent or bring your caravan, you’re sure to have a comfortable stay at Bonnie Vale. The campground has a mix of powered and unpowered sites, and is equipped with flush toilets, hot showers and drinking water, so you won’t need to rough it.Go fishing at nearby Jibbon Beach, enjoy a barbecue by the sea or hike along Royal National Park’s long list of walking tracks. On weekends, you can even hire a kayak and paddle in the Hacking River.Nearby activities: Bundeena Drive to Marley walkCape SolanderCaptain Cook's Landing PlaceForest pathHermitage Foreshore track

Anthony Critchley: A beautiful campground - quiet, clean and close to services. Well worth a stay - we’ll be back
Adrian W: Stayed on 19th March 2023 to 20th March 2023.Great clean grassy campsite areas. Very clean bbq areas and bathrooms, well looked after by park rangers as well as fellow campers. The showers are newly renovated and provide warm water. The bbqs are plenty along with drinking water taps and power outlets. I stayed at site 69 which along with sites 62-69 are right along the waterfront with uninterrupted views. Some sites are closer to grass and bushland. The only downside for some would be the number of crickets and mosquitoes at night.Restrooms: Clean but plenty of black crickets dropping from the roofs and on the bench top and in the basinPicnic area: Clean but black crickets flying around at night
Wayne Everett: Beautiful but the facilities get swamped by noon campers trying to use the shower and toilet block. Some people don't know how to control their children, especially new COVID campers. My car was hit several times by kids playing cricket on the road. They were not allowed to play next to their dads AMG ohh nooo.Rooms: 5/1|Service: 5/4|Location: 5/5 …More

Rowan Daly: Great place, was lucky to have it mostly to myself, but beautiful scenery and one of my favourite national parks.
Aleks K: Great!
John Maharjan (John Maharjan): Solitude at its best here
Morgan Eyles: Nice campsite and flowing water easily accessible to drink (although would recommend filtering/boiling). The campsite isn’t where google maps says it is, continue along the trail until you come to the picnic table, the campsites are just off to the left of that.
Mark Osborn: Very Short But Good For Beginners
Sandy Sandy: Quiet place.love the landscapes.worth walking.want to go again. But i think the way should be clearly instructed with the help of arrows.
Kristy K C (kathkristu): Remote campground. Would be better if it only maintains a toilet.
azbog cleary: Everthing you need for camping all in ome spot
Liza Campny: Worth the walk & swimming pool is refreshing

Ridge Top Campground: what do users think?
Lucas Lannette: The perfect campground. Quiet but still close to the town. beautiful sight, fire allowed, firepits set up.Small 1km hike to the spot but definitely worth it
Sybylla Brown: This is a pretty little campsite an easy walk from Turner Rd. The only facilities are a drop toilet and a picnic bench, but there's lovely views and beautiful bushland setting.
B Bromby: good
Oz Noodle: Single drop toilet, Single park bench, No water.
Dave Long: I love this place. It's so easy to get to and absolutely beautiful! BUT NOBODY GO THERE (I don't want it to be so popular haha)
Daina Byrne: Simple flat campsite. No water or facilities. Fire pit
Sean Nairn: Quiet camping area directly on the Great North Walk. You’ll generally have the place to yourself on weeknights and even on weekends it’s never crowded. No facilities, it’s about a half hour walk to shops at Berowra Heights (Coles, cafes etc). Great views to the west from the cliff tops but beware of the drop as it’s not fenced.
niftynathan7: Nice and peaceful campsite away from the noise of Berowra Waters. Stayed overnight all went well. Easy escape route down fire trail if needed. No toilets or water just a fire pit. Small trail leads to a cliff without a fence with an amazing view.

Tunks Crossing Campsite: what do users think?
Alec Sherwood: A large flat area in the bush perfect for camping. It has a cliff nearby where you can view the valley. It can be accessed by foot or mountain bike via the fire trails. The trails connect multiple areas, all the way from Hornsby to Dural.
Benjamin Swinfield: Part of the Quarry Rd/Great North Walk track. Nice
Felix: A quiet place to camp. Flat. When I went I was the only camper. Not many people passing through in the morning save for a few mountain bikers and joggers. If you want to get here the fastest way is heading through Tunks Trail from Dural side. Note you have to go on foot and you need to cross through the path of a rifle range for a section of it. There is a fence but you can enter at your own risk. I was advised by some joggers that it’s best to move through during closing hours of the range, but it’s really nothing to worry about. It’s about a 30-40 minute walk from the road in which your car willbe parked so don’t pack too heavy.
Ramesh Natarajan: At the crossing of Quarry Trail and Tunks Road trail. Not much of shade or other facilities. Currently the place is closed for Covid reasons. Maybe the facilities would be available once it is open
Beth Vogelzang: A great steep walk
James Dufty: I stop here on my MTB rides. Nice spot to recharge. There are no facilities here, you need to take everything with you including water.
