Cockatoo Island Camping: what do users think?
Siamak Moradi: Nice place to camp but a bit expensive!
Alyssa: An island near the city! One of UNESCO world heritage sites! I must say the must visit places are the tunnel and the clifftop walk! We enjoyed it. We also hired a self guided tour for $6 p/p in their visitor centre. You can also stay overnight in tents and they have a lot of activities to offer like movie night, ghost tours, etc. See pics and vids. 😉They also have 2 restos in the island. I have posted the menu for one of them. Unfortunately, missed to take a photo of the other restaurant. We visited this island via ferry from Barangaroo wharf 1.
Anush Fernandes: Great tents and a stunning view. We were a big group so sitting around the camp fire was fun. An early morning walk to the prison is still pretty spooky as it is to walk in the shopping yard and tunnels at night. Fun for all ages.
Adam Anderson: Had a really good stay. The tents were clean, the toilets and showers were fine and the Cafe was well priced. The walk around the island was most interesting - particularly the convict buildings and the shipbuilding section.Rooms: 5/4|Service: 5/4|Location: 5/4 …More
Darren D: FYI food service closes 1hr before bar/cafe and no/limited food options on the island. Otherwise a great location in the middle of Sydney.
Khairil Razali: It is an amazing experience. We enjoyed the one night camping with family and friends. The island highly recommended for visiting. The camping site is fabulous. The historical values of the island is lovely. We will visit again.
Mills J: Good facilities, attentive service, easy booking.Nice choice to bring children
Latino Asian Couple: Came for short escape to relieve stress with husband. Such a wonderful place. We book from online booking site a spot with own tent with just $60, the spot is right behind, got share clean bathroom, shower room. Only not comfort at night for the noise coz there's a lot of seagulls, probably it's seagulls base there. Here provide complete amenities like kitchen, bbq , fire spot, free movie 2-3 movies a night, fridge, microwave. For sure no car park coz it's an island. Definitely will come again with my family next time.
Eddie Chan: I'm gonna tell you something you won't find on the website. Goods: Lovely sunrise/sunset/star views in the city, good amenities. You can pay $5 to rent basketball (they have a court)or sandbag to play games. Vending machine has instant noodle. Bads: funny smell on my pillow and bedding. Their bed is like hammock style, not comfy for old gentleman/lady, waterfront tents means you sleep next to highway. Racing boat keep passing by all night/early morning just to wait u up for sunrise.
Charlotte Thompson: Amazing tent

BenandVon Richards: Stayed 2 nights (Sat&Sun) on a powered site at the end of May, and while it was busier than I expected for off peak, there was plenty of std powered sites available.Didn't use any of the playground equipment but the amenities were clean and well maintained. My gripe is, despite there being plenty of sites available to spread people out, it seemed like the management wanted to jam people next to one another. Also despite there being plenty of spots about, people were tenting on the island between "main street", the access in and out of the park. Perhaps this is necessary during the peak of summer holidays when the park is bulging at the seams, but a standard weekend in May?
mrpoultsy1: Great caravan park and really big and open. One of the best I've been too. Pretty reasonably priced.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great view …More

Geri Haydon: I had a powered site in the northern end. Row K doesn’t get much sun early of a morning in May so if you want the sun to dry your tent or van before you leave at 10am get a row further south. No concrete slabs here but relatively level grassed sites. Power and water is easily accessible. The unpowered tent sites are small. They are located between two roads and under the rows of Norfolk Island Pines. Not a lot of sunshine for solar on the unpowered sites.I didn’t meet any staff. The booking was done online and all the checkin details were sent to me via email. It seems strange not talking to anyone or getting the low down on the place face to face. The amenities were clean and modern. Plenty of hot water in the showers. There are indoor kitchen facilities with two large fridges for use by everyone.
Dianne Banner: Fantastic clean, great locationRooms: Spacious, comfortable, very cleanWalkability: Easy walk to public transport, coffee shops, beach
Jane Cornell: We stayed eight nights in a lake view cabin in April. The cabins are good, well designed and have a nice outlook. The furniture is showing it's age and the kitchen equipment is basic. Our cabin, number nine, was closest to the road, but noise wasn't a problem. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, but management was not great. The overall cleanliness wasn't good. Although we were supposed to have a mid-stay clean included, we arrived home one day to find a pile of new linen left on the deck. I went to the office to query this. The girl on the desk was apologetic, but a woman from the back office appeared to tell me that staff won't enter a cabin if it's empty, unlike every hotel room in Australia! There was no prior warning of this or attempt to reschedule. She also said the property is self-catering, meaning we should clean it ourselves, despite only a few sachets of dishwashing liquid being supplied and no other cleaning products. Given the price per night I found this pretty poor and her attitude very negative. A hairdryer is provided, but is quite useless. BYO. We used the camp kitchen a few times. It was clean and well equipped. We gave up on using the wifi altogether.
Denis Ellem: A great place to stay, and in a fantastic location. The stay was great for me, but my wife was only able to have Luke warm showers due to some problem on 5 of the 7 days we were there. Others also commented, but maybe did not report it.We will be using this as our base in future caravan trips to Sydney.Bus stop adjoins the park, 2 adjoining coffee shops, plus an on-site one in the morning.Clean amenities, 200m to a surfing beach and rock pool. Lake for kayaking and SUP.The staff were friendly and helpful.
michael midgley: Great place and great location but unfortunately they had a bit of a rat problem and a few campers had the wire in there cars eaten... We had to park somewhere else just in case it happened to us, we could see them running around everywhere.Food & drinks: They had a lovely little coffee van by the water park area, great coffee and great service it was definitely a bonus.
David Knight: Location, location, location!Rooms: Basic, functional, comfy and clean.Nearby activities: A short stroll to the beach!

Ana Carol Almeida: Great facilities. Beautiful surroundings.
Anita Neeser: Great location to visit Sydney, but a bit expensive
Milena Kennedy (Mil): The little studio was clean and tidy. It doesn't have a coffee table or chairs inside. There are only basic kitchen items such as plates bowls cutlery mugs and glasses with the exact amount for 2 people. There is an electric jug but you will need to go to camp kitchen for toaster, microwave and other cooking facilities. There is an outdoor table and two chairs on the deck. Staff are very friendly and welcoming and there is much to do in the area.
施旻伶: Good campground for short holiday. All facilities were clean. Some children riding bikes so danger without adult care. Made us feel annoyed.Rooms: 5/4|Service: 5/4|Location: 5/4 …More

Lane Cove Caravan Park: what do users think?
Michael McRoberts: We stayed here for a long weekend in winter in a powered site, fabulous location and super beautiful park.Park itself is very well kept, it’s hard to believe that you are in the middle of Sydney. With the new Metro line it’s around an hour to be in Circular Quay for Darling Harbour! The park itself is full of gum trees and greenery; it really is a stunning park. The run into the park from North or South is pretty clean with the vast majority of transit being on motorways. We were nervous about being around Sydney with a large caravan and tow-rig but we’re pleasantly surprised.Only negative from me is some of the sites are pretty tight for larger caravans, plus there is very low levels of light at night time. I pulled in around 6:30pm and parking up my van felt pretty scetchy solo; would recommend doing this one in daytime hours!Anyways, would happily stay here again!
geronimo tricarico: A great spot near Sydney3 night stay. really convenient 40 minutes by bus from the city centre. very neat and clean campsite. pitches in grass and concrete, very clean bathrooms with laundry service and many services such as a BBQ area and kitchen area with everything you need. it also has living areas and a cinema area, parks for children, a swimming pool and a gem; a trekking route starts from the campsite which leads to the Lane Cove river. $50 a night powered site. Great
Helen Tapper: Excellent park in a picturesque National Park. The staff were great as well.
Enosh Kennedy: $30 a night for an unpowered tent site. Amenities were great, boiling water on tap in the communal kitchen, clean bathrooms, clean campsite, polite staff.
Mark Barker: Fantastic park.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Benjamin Sutter: Our favourite accommodation on our 2.5 week road trip.Amazing to believe this location full of peace and wildlife is so close to Sydney CBD and the cabin rooms were great quality.Highly recommend!
Maria Curtis: What a Park.My husband and I have stayed at this park many times, and despite it not being wheelchair friendly, the staff are exceptional. They go above and beyond to help you, especially when I was unwell and ended up in the hospital. They always asked my husband if he was ok and how I was beingThe cabins are cleaned to perfection and they always leave the outside light on if you're coming in after dark. The grounds are loo,ked after beautifully and being in a wheelchair I have no problems getting around. This is a tremendous place and so very peaceful and I certainly can't wait to come back for the peacefulness of the park.Rooms: The cleanness and the facility that was available in the van.Nearby activities: It is so much and it's not far from buses or the station and you can do whatever you like, you can hop on the train and view Australia at its finestSafety: Knowing that someone in there 24/7 and when they finish at 430 in the afternoon, there is an emergency number you can call and it's either the manager or care taker how secured this place is.Walkability: The place is walkable but I can't walk.Food & drinks: We brought all our own, but movie nights, hot dogs and popcorn and a good movie for the children in school holidays BRILLIANTNoteworthy details: The Serenity of nature.
Bronwyn Sc: Great bit of nature in a big city. Clean camp kitchen and amenities. Easy access to city. Will stay again.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/4|Location: 5/5 …More
Doug Sheehan: Thank you Nicki, Sam and Fiona for all your assistance, professionalism and empathy. You were exceptional. A lovely cabin in a beautiful setting.BevWalkability: Easy access to train station.
Mitchell Aust: Great location, only 700m from train station into city, BUT all grey water pits full ours over flowed covering our site. Bathrooms not cleaned during our stay.Spoke with manager and sent detailed email with photos to manager and ceo. Refund given.Walkability: 700m walk to train stationRestrooms: Disgusting
Sean Austin: Caravan sites are cramped and muddy, amenities toilet stalls missing latches, mould and loose tiles in the showers. But the cabins look nice and new and pretty.
Kerry Bartholomew: Beautiful kept grounds and amenities. Set in gorgeous bush land with excellent metro and bus transport just a short 10 minute walk away. All staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back !!

Victoria Peterson: Great little park, very quiet. Plenty of native fauna to observe. Though the pool closes far earlier than we had anticipated (7pm even during daylight savings) it is still a great place that is somehow both close enough to anything you may need, yet isolated enough that it is still peaceful!
Jan Owen: Very nice cabins with everything required. Would stay again.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More

Bonnie Vale campground: what do users think?
Gordon “Hawkesbury Campground” McDonald: Bonnie Vale is a family-friendly campground located between Bundeena and Maianbar at the north end of Royal National Park. This popular riverside campground is known for its large sand spit, which makes it a great swimming spot.Whether you choose to pitch a tent or bring your caravan, you’re sure to have a comfortable stay at Bonnie Vale. The campground has a mix of powered and unpowered sites, and is equipped with flush toilets, hot showers and drinking water, so you won’t need to rough it.Go fishing at nearby Jibbon Beach, enjoy a barbecue by the sea or hike along Royal National Park’s long list of walking tracks. On weekends, you can even hire a kayak and paddle in the Hacking River.Nearby activities: Bundeena Drive to Marley walkCape SolanderCaptain Cook's Landing PlaceForest pathHermitage Foreshore track

Adrian W: Stayed on 19th March 2023 to 20th March 2023.Great clean grassy campsite areas. Very clean bbq areas and bathrooms, well looked after by park rangers as well as fellow campers. The showers are newly renovated and provide warm water. The bbqs are plenty along with drinking water taps and power outlets. I stayed at site 69 which along with sites 62-69 are right along the waterfront with uninterrupted views. Some sites are closer to grass and bushland. The only downside for some would be the number of crickets and mosquitoes at night.Restrooms: Clean but plenty of black crickets dropping from the roofs and on the bench top and in the basinPicnic area: Clean but black crickets flying around at night
Wayne Everett: Beautiful but the facilities get swamped by noon campers trying to use the shower and toilet block. Some people don't know how to control their children, especially new COVID campers. My car was hit several times by kids playing cricket on the road. They were not allowed to play next to their dads AMG ohh nooo.Rooms: 5/1|Service: 5/4|Location: 5/5 …More

Tunks Crossing Campsite: what do users think?
Alec Sherwood: A large flat area in the bush perfect for camping. It has a cliff nearby where you can view the valley. It can be accessed by foot or mountain bike via the fire trails. The trails connect multiple areas, all the way from Hornsby to Dural.
Benjamin Swinfield: Part of the Quarry Rd/Great North Walk track. Nice
Felix: A quiet place to camp. Flat. When I went I was the only camper. Not many people passing through in the morning save for a few mountain bikers and joggers. If you want to get here the fastest way is heading through Tunks Trail from Dural side. Note you have to go on foot and you need to cross through the path of a rifle range for a section of it. There is a fence but you can enter at your own risk. I was advised by some joggers that it’s best to move through during closing hours of the range, but it’s really nothing to worry about. It’s about a 30-40 minute walk from the road in which your car willbe parked so don’t pack too heavy.
Ramesh Natarajan: At the crossing of Quarry Trail and Tunks Road trail. Not much of shade or other facilities. Currently the place is closed for Covid reasons. Maybe the facilities would be available once it is open
Beth Vogelzang: A great steep walk
James Dufty: I stop here on my MTB rides. Nice spot to recharge. There are no facilities here, you need to take everything with you including water.

Haiting Lan: A great experience with the nature, so beautiful and not crowded. Love it!
Lireoec: The legendary Lane Cove National Park. Always excellent for bushwalking, trail running and other outdoor activities. It's a lovely hideaway in the middle of Macquarie and has been consistently well-managed and cared for. Come see the green jewel of Lane Cove and appreciate the waterfall and walking paths.
Jim Hooke: A beautiful National Park. Great for a family gathering at a picnic area or a bushwalk.
kevin hunt: It’s at my backyard
Aldo Gionta: Beautiful
Rylee В: The tour itself is very short in terms of walking distance; beginning just behind the Parramatta Wharf where the Rivercat comes in and ending at the Gasworks Bridge. The audio tracks are also not overly long.
GU Yiqian: They closed at 7PM take it seriously, they really lock the door.if can not get out just wait someone live inside open door for you,but u have to luck enough
Simone Vieira: Very nice and beautiful national park. It's good for hiking, running, cycling or even a simple walk. There a lot picnic places, some of them with barbecues. Highly recommended.
Christopher Lowe: My car broke down here but that's completely unrelated to the park. From what little I saw it seemed really nice. Five stars
Elton Morales: The more green the better we are as humans..love this place for some nature without travelling to the bush. Great for hikes or bike rides and mostly importantly fresh air and beautiful wildlife and fauna. Highly recommended. Pack a lunch and visit.

The Basin campground: what do users think?
Gordon “Hawkesbury Campground” McDonald: The Basin campground is the only place you can camp in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. This large, grassy area overlooks Pittwater, offering lovely surroundings and views. It’s easy to see why this waterfront campground is so popular. At The Basin, you’ll find great facilities along with a picnic area, sheltered beach and an inland lagoon. The campground accommodates up to 350 campers.Pitch your tent in a shady spot, enjoy a bike ride or a swim and see if you can spot the local swamp wallabies or kookaburras. There’s no car access to The Basin campground. You can park at West Head Road but it's a steep 2.8km walk to the campground from there. If you're not up for the hike, arrive by water taxi, boat or a ferry which leaves from Palm Beach Wharf.Restrooms: Flush toiletsPicnic area: Fires are only permitted in designated wood barbecues or fire pits. Fire pits can be booked onsite only and cannot be booked in advance. Firewood can be purchased at the campground.Gas/electric barbecues (free)Wood barbecues
Mark Powell: The Basin is spectacular this time of year. Hot sunny days and cold nights, perfect for sitting around one of the fire pits enjoying a bottle of red with friends or loved ones. Easy access via ferry. Highly recommend
Siamak Moradi: Nice place to camp on the weekends.
Jacky Fourie: Beautiful place to escape too! Perfect spot for a picnic!
Marty Middlebrook: Great support staff greet guests at the ferry stop, very clear designated camping area, lovely lush grass and fun in the sun. Just be sure to get to the ferry early - droves of people with carts take up too much room.Restrooms: Large with hot showers.Dog-friendliness: It’s a National Park, so no dogs
Vincent Chagnaud: Really nice place to stay over the weekend.
Dan Coleman: Perfect campsite for younger children. All the amenities you could need; showers/flush toilets, fresh water, vending machine, helpful rangers. A great place to test if your kids (and yourself) are into camping before trying somewhere with less comforts.
P Mitch: Amazing place
salvatore grimaudo: Beautiful weather, camp site was clean and well maintained. Ferry ride was quick and easy. Recommend for a nice day out.
Tash Jamieson: Lovely spot for a picnic and a swim! If you are boating over, just be careful where you anchor (don't dock at the pier and read the signs). Ate lunch next to some curious goannas.
Caleb lbj: No Dogs sadly if you want a lizard eating it no car camping at this spot
Józef Ochocki: Great campground, you can get there by ferry from Palms Beach
Nik Ayliffe: Good camp site and location for families - facilities good, swimming and nice hiking. Some logistical challenges with gear and ferry. Was way too crowded however and our camp was spoilt on the last night by a large group (who likely hadn’t even booked) setting up their tent less than 2 meters away from our camp site. Do not go here if you’re looking for your own camping space.
Andrew Leslie: Great, but long walk in and out
Billie Gosling: Beautiful camping spot. We visit several times a year and always have the loveliest time. Clean, peaceful spot and the facilities are always clean
Reza Karim: Perfect
Charlie Fa: Beautiful camping that has a very nice family and community atmosphere. People seem quite respectful and self aware.Even at full capacity it doesn’t feel overcrowded. The only downside is the amenities could be cleaned a bit better / more frequently but that is typically expected on camping grounds.
Dina Shcherbakova: Great place but still crowded and hard to get there with camping gear
Saumyya Bharadwaj: Quite, relaxing camping grounds. You can enjoy a day trip too..
Luz Marina Osorio: Lindo lugar para camping
Zara Smith: Extremely overbooked, not ideal if you’re looking for a quiet weekend
