Sam Fair: purchased a gift card to the spa online (for a work colleague) and went to pick it up two days later only to have them make me wait for 40 minutes in the lobby while they served every other person. I could understand them serving a handful of guests checking in, but plenty of their staff were just standing around seemingly aimlessly while I waited, and there’s no conceivable reason why they couldn’t print the card when I bought it 2 days ago and have it ready for collection? just lazy, second rate kind of garbage you’d expect from a hotel charging under $300/night. certainly not this place.

steven lee: Way below expectations on a recent 2 night stay. Have stayed at many 5 star hotels both here and abroad. Staff mostly were as if they are straight out of a hospitality course. On surface the staff are well dressed etc but scratch the surface and the incompetence becomes evident. Clunky communication, inconsistent cocktails (same cocktail taste completely different the next day), room service coffee taking more than one hour when a 15 min time was quoted. My guess is management allowed competent staff to leave and they are desperately filling with new staff. Seen this in my own industry. Would not return. Door staff were pretty good. The pool is lovely.

M T: I had complained the oysters to staff that they all got quite a lot small pieces of shells in them but was asked to try some more. No difference. Found a dead mosquito in my husband’s glass of wine. Lipstick mark on the cup of my earl grey tea. There were mainly one to two young male staff serving many tables in our side that they did not spot them before they serve the drinks on our table. They seemed exhausted and could not be attentive timely. My birthday desert plate was delivered when our table was still filled with dirty plates and glasses. The floor manager also lack knowledge about the operation. She did not know about the buffet vouchers and blamed on lack of communication within their team and accused me of misunderstanding the terms and conditions of the vouchers. At the beginning she refused to listen to my explanation and demanded that I showed her the original of the gift vouchers in my digital device although it is their restaurant and hotel policies that we have to bring in the printed vouchers to confirm and verify. Believe me her attitude was not kind. When I was able to find the digital version, she did not look at it but apologised that she had not read the printed vouchers’ terms thoroughly.Food & drinks: Food was overall good except for the oyster. They had too many small pieces of shell in them. Not good in hygiene practices as my husband was served a glass of wine with a dead mosquito in it. Lipstick mark on cup of tea was also served to me.

K Poppy Galouzis: Broken Bed, Don't bother getting Club Lounge extremely disappointing. No food for breakfast and evening canapes and drinks definitely not worth it. Do not get valet service smashed our car. Broken bed! No sleep! a total waste of money. Advised reception of issues and all I got was an apology. This hotel has undergone renovations in loby/reception area but they have let down their guard in regards to rooms and service. At breakfast had to ask for a coffee 4 tines as waitress forgot our order. I would recommend management look at overall hotel and service. Rate it a 3 to 4 star at the moment.

Cherry on the top after a month that I have been there they are still holding my deposit for no reasons. It is not much money but they say they have done all the best they can to return it and I just have to wait (after a month that I have been there?!).I woul definitely go somewhere else next time.

Filip: ZERO STARS FOR RESTAURANT: I am writing this review before even receiving my food as we have waited 1h 20 mins already and have received nothing. Service is very poor, atmosphere below average, there is only 3 other tables yet we are waiting over an hour for entrees. This is extremely disappointing, I do not even want to pay for the food when it is here unless it is the best thing I’ve ever eaten. Unacceptable for a 5 star restaurant with a chef that has supposedly 25 years experience. DISASTER.

Samuel Fletcher: Stayed here for a special occasion- these guys know what good service is all about. Special complimentary bottle of chilled sparkling and cake to welcome us into our room. The guy at check-in also personally thanks us for our loyalty to their hotel- sounds simple, but it means so much to actually hear it. Great attentive bar staff too- nothing is a problem. Upgraded room also- all I can say is thank you everyone at Swissotel Sydney for making it such a special experience!!!

They didn’t had any bath robes, slippers or other toiletries in the room which was very disappointing and when we asked for them it was never delivered. Even there hotel room service dinning app doesn’t works as it directed us to order through the app for dinning service and after waiting 45 mins when we call at the room service they told the app is still being developed which was very frustrating as we weren’t able to get any food. I heard about a lot of this place but the service was very poor for an expensive experience.

Sienna Scott: Had a couples spa day with my best friend at the Darling Spa and it was amazing. We had a private room and we both had a scrub treatment, shower, massage & facial. The entire Spa smelt amazing like lemongrass. The facilities there are beautiful.

I celebrated the evening of my 21st here and she was so lovely, going above and beyond to make our stay here the best and even writing a little card that was later delivered to our room. Karen Stone: I recently booked a three night stay in the Jewel Suite at this amazing hotel and the hotel definitely deserves a five star rating. This hotel is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and exceeded my expectations.From my arrival and being greeted by the concierge Bradley and his very helpful team to an exceptional check-in at reception by Yann. I was early for my check-in and expected to wait until the advertised check-in time, however Yann informed me that my suite was ready and then ordered a complimentary bottle of Moët and a fruit platter to be delivered to my suite. When I mentioned to Yann I had another reservation coming up at the end of the month with my husband for one night he then upgraded this booking to the Penthouse Suite. I am so grateful to Yann for his kindness and for making me feel like a VIP.The Jewel Suite was spacious, spotless, the interior décor was beautiful and amenities supplied were wonderful. The room attendants ensured the room was kept spotless and all amenities used were replaced. In fact all the staff at this hotel were excellent, friendly and ensured my stay was a happy one.The hotel location is excellent and close to Cockle Bay, The Rocks, Opera House and the CBD. The hotel is attached to the Star Casino and you have the opportunity to eat at the restaurant at the Darling or at the numerous restaurants at the Casino especially Luke Nguyen’s restaurant Fat Noodle.I highly recommend this hotel for any stay in Sydney and am looking forward to my next visit.

Katharine Dubuis: My mum and I had high tea there today. Service was good, location was nice but the gluten free high tea was substandard. Some of the gluten free options were inedible. Mum said the normal high tea was tasty. The wait for the food was quite long but the team did comp us a glass of moet which was appreciated. Overall it was ok for the price, but if you’re gluten free I would not recommend at all. The tea room at QVB or gunners barracks have much tastier gf options.

Julian Hodda: Four years ago I rated this a five star experience - I’ve stay 10 times over the years, my last stay was my last. Tired, unclean rooms; the worst room service I’ve experience, no membership acknowledgement or treatment and when issues raised received the ‘thanks for letting us know, we’ll do better next time’ - although there won’t be a next time for us.We booked a harbour facing room arriving from Dubai at 930 pm. Checkin was initially good - very nice recptionist, but quickly became aware that no membership acknowledgement or upgrade had taken place - we were supposedly given a great room which was at the end of the row and had a construction site out the front. Got up to the room - Sydney is a known backwater when it comes late night dining and so after lokkk g at what was available around (nothing!) we thought we order room service - there was almost nothing on the menu. We tried to order through the ridiculous online system which asked us to put in a phone number to get a text confirmation - that never came through. Ring reception, no one answers, ring again you can hear the phone being redirected around the hotel until it feels like someone in car parking answers. Long convoluted ordering process - always on. hold whilst they check what we order is available, again and again. Finish ordering go to have shower - shower is dirty with hair on soap dispenser, start looking around the room it’s tired, ripped lampshades on each side of the bed and the shear curtain, crumbs in the minibar server, dirty spoon (clearly jump been given a light wipe) it’s 11 now we’ve flown 14 hours we just want to sleep - bed was clean and properly made.Food arrive and some how they’ve made it without flavor - like they boiled the spaghetti bolognese all together and then drained (this one one of the three options available) the ham and cheese panini was two huge slices of bread a thin piece of ham and cheese. Desert not brought up with the meal nor was the water - they are ‘going to check if available’ - we never hear from them again, we eat half the ham sandwich 1/8 of the inedible bolognese and go to sleep. Wake up at 7 am too a Huge piling rig out the front our room. Walking around the room in the morning carpet feels sticky in front of the balcony, eeeeww we’re totally done by this stageSave your money and stay elsewhere, in its current state, this is no better than a highway motel. There was no manager on when we checked out at 1 (they were good enough to give a later checkout) sent a long detailed list with photos and got a nice reply which basically said we are sorry but thanks for your money. Lesson learned, we should have kicked up immediately on noticing each and every issue, we paid in full for the terrible room serviceSave your money and stay else where. This is on the down hill slide and expensive for nothingOverpriced for nothing - has Swedish bathroom supplies in a pump pack like a gym rather than individual - not very 5 star

Bigins Gorilla: Absolutely GREAT location, stayed 1 night for VIVID. Super reception and concierge staff. Apartment was average for the price. No hand soap, delivered promptly on request. Exterior electric blind not working, room a bit tired for the $700 per night. Bed however was supurb. Breakfast ok but not up to Pullman standards.Hotel Needs a management upgrade - complacency creeping in.
craig bennett: Really nice apartment hotel. We stay here over 30 nights per year, around 3 or 4 nights per stay. The staff are super friendly and courteous and make us feel like VIPs. Rooms are amazing. Beautifully appointed.Note: both the bar and the restaurant get busy so book well in advance of your stay.

Lisa Casey: Location is actually 9 stars, would be 10 if you could see the Opera House as well. Great hotel to sit on the balcony and watch the world go past. The staff were friendly. The interior is a little dated, especially the bathroom but the kitchen is excellent with a good sized fridge, dishwasher and oven.We stayed when the Cahill expressway was closed for a festival so we got live music as well.One of my favourite hotels.
