Skip Ford: We had our 25th wedding anniversary dinner with overseas guests (they had chosen chiswick as one of their must visit venues while in Sydney for 4 days!) We could only get an 8.30pm booking as nothing else was available. After getting our guests on arrival and sitting they took a wine order and not 5 minutes later the share menu food started arriving, without a great deal of explanation. It kept arriving quickly and our first course was just about finished before our first drink arrived. We asked them of they could slow down as we were feeling rushed. All the food was lovely it was only the tuna that was underwhelming. The service was efficient but not super welcoming. Dessert was amazing and we had coffee. Not long after we were told that as it is residential the premises was to be vacated by 11pm no question. We were told this 3 times in a rather firm manner. Quite disappointing for our 25th anniversary celebrations and a boll of $1500.00 ! We won't be returning I'm a hurry.

The wine bottle is not placed on the table, so if I run out of wine in my glass, I had to wait until a waiter comes to pour. If the service does not allow pouring wine into empty glasses, it should be abolished.

Lyn: A very atmospheric restaurant with thoughtful and attentive staff and exceptionally delicious food. I am not usually one for "fancy" food, but I tried to keep an open mind here and I'm so glad I did. I tried all the options and each element was delicious. I had not even heard of eating pearl meat, but it was wonderful. If you are unsure of a new food item, this is an ideal place to try them.

I had my first bite and couldn’t finish it as it was extremely chewy/rubbery, so i asked my husband to swap with me as I thought it was just to my taste. He had a bite as well and confirmed it was so chewy and rubbery, and could not finish it.We told the server who was helping our table but didn’t receive any apology whatsoever, or offered to change it. But she did acknowledge though as she saw that the wagyu was barely halved. So we were confused if it was a language barrier or she just didn’t know what to do. Very awkward, but we just didn’t want to cause a scene.Overall, we wanted to love it as it was for our anniversary, but i don’t think it’s worth it unfortunately.

Sandra Gounden: I organised a high tea to celebrate my friend’s milestone birthday on the 26/3/23. To begin with they didn’t have the teas that we requested. We were given just one sandwich each, which was stale. This was suppose to be an ‘Easter high tea’ but had absolutely nothing relating to Easter. When I enquirer about this, I was presented with brownies, which were rock hard and couldn’t be cut. I did call the next day and was told that someone in management would give me a call, still waiting!!!!Overall a very disappointing experience. At $75 per person, you’d be better off spending your had earned money at the Sheraton for their high tea or even Lilianfels which are much cheaper and better quality in my experience.

Michelle T: I’ve always been a big fan of Nomad, though wasn’t a big fan of my experience last night. Loads of staff, who were attentive. Though training could be provided as had three different people wiped our table one after the other even though it was clean (was a tad intrusive especially given we were on a two hour time limit and it took 20 mins to be served). Food was great as usual! - what I wasn’t happy about is that we were rounded up well before the 8pm sitting end. 20 minutes early in fact. And worst case was that we paid cash and no one brought back the change. The person who was pushing us to leave, miraculously disappeared. Tips are at the discretion of the customer and it’s extremely rude not to bring back change to allow choice.

Had high expectations; however, felt the flavours for some of the courses were bland and everything else did not blow us away.Was also befuddled with the manager asking us to not have the 8 course menu, when that was the only reason we were coming. If they can’t fit it into the allocated two hour slot, then warn in advance or not offer it. Was rushed, and that combined with the lack-lustre food made for a less-than-satisfying evening.The view was lovely, wine was fine and the staff we’re trying their best to meet our needs. But ultimately we came for the food and to have a nice relaxed evening. Fail in that regard, especially with the $400 price tag.On a final note, we wanted to enjoy the restaurant before closure, and also expected a tour of the kitchen, as noted on their website... it did not happen. No tour. The staff seemed to not know anything about it. Oh well.

Frances B: I went here last night with a girlfriend and I would say it was the worst dining experience I ever had.Our table was arranged in the corner position, I moved my chair to the other side so I'm sitting across from my friend which we thought was much more appropriate as it was not a romantic dinner! The waitress approached us and said that we can't change the seating arrangement due to covid-19 and there has to be social distancing in place. As I looked around the restaurant 95% of tables had back to back seatings so a bit of a contradiction to what was advised. The hostess then went to get the manager and this was when things escalated. He started the conversation mentioning that I had to change the seats back, he argued that seats needed to be 1.5m apart due to covid-19 restrictions. I pointed out some table examples where the seats were literally back to back with each other with possibly a 30cm gap in between. He got very annoyed and then said to me "if you want to keep your chair like that fine, I don't want to argue with you" and then stormed off (Yes, stormed off). During the whole conversation he was very aggressive, condescending and also raised his voice. Another couple arrived behind us and thought the seating arrangement was ridiculous and also changed their seats like ours.Please teach your staff to how to properly speak to their guests (or how to speak to another human in fact) I was polite in my conversations and was just trying to understand your argument. I don't believe it needed to escalate to your manager terrorising its guests. The experience left a very bitter taste to the food :( Very disappointed.

Despina Giakoumelos: What a wonderful experience. We ordered the Chef Signature Menu at 200pp. Every dish was outstanding and we were definitely not hungry by the end of it! The oysters were some of the best I’ve ever had. The lobster was the best lobster I have had. It had a certain smokey flavour to it that made the lobster flavour stand out in a way Ive never experienced. The view from the restaurant was beautiful. Parking was easy. The wine choice was perfect. Yes it is pricey, but the ingredients are premium and experience are premium. Perfect way to celebrate a special event.

Lee Russell: Absolutely stunned by all the good reviews of this place. We just left here after tasting the starter and asked for the bill. Word of warning for anyone visiting this restaurant. The majority of dishes are COLD / RAW!!! Please put this on the menu for customers!We’re now off to a restaurant that serves cooked food. On a plus note, the staff were very courteous and only charged us for drinks.

Doz Bez: Date night with my husband was spectacular. We had the signature menu with wine pairing - every single meal with delicious but my favourites were the “snacks”, especially the polenta tartlet and salted brioche, and the tuna with rosemary focaccia and tomato snow! AMAZING!! Of course, the Star of the night was the lobster 🙌🏼 I missed this dish so much, I immediately started researching how to make focaccia at home! We just came back from Italy 3 weeks prior to this dinner and I can honestly say, this is the best Italian meal I can remember having. The overall experience left us with full bellies and a newfound appreciation for Italian white wines! Can’t wait to come back here!

Carrie Singles: My husband and I had dinner here last night. I ordered the bbq short rib as my husband had ordered it on our last visit here and thoroughly enjoyed it. When it came out I couldn’t cut into it. Some parts were ok but HALF was full of fat and grizzle. I’d left just over half and explained to our waitress why I couldn’t eat it. She also said “oh yeah I can see all grizzle and fat” she showed the chefs and their reply was that they would speak to their suppliers and they to could see that it was a bad cut of meat. I explained this on paying that I couldn’t eat it and I’d only eaten just under half. Her reply was I can’t do anything about it as you had almost half of it. She replied you should have sent it back when you got it. Ummmm how am I suppose to know how grizzly and fatty it is unless I eat some of it. She was very unhelpful and basically didn’t give a care in the world. I didn’t want a refund but maybe some kind of discount as over half was sent back. This experience and the way I was treated wasn’t acceptable . I was offered nothing and treated poorly.

Alexandra Middleton: We visited Mr Wongs today after having a great experience at Totti's. The food, service and atmosphere were excellent. But outside of the dim sum, the food was basically tasteless. There was also barely any actual chicken you could eat in the crispy chicken dish, the vegetarian fried rice was basically rice that was fried, the garlic prawns were rubbery and the salt and pepper tofu was essentially plain tofu fried (I know tofu doesn't have a lot of flavour, but this no flavour was next level). I always check reviews before booking and know Mr Wongs has plenty of good ones on here so maybe we caught them on an off day?! Who knows. Absolutely not worth the expensive bill at the end of it all.

The sweet corn with salted egg yolk was a really interesting and memorable dish. The portions were massive so we ended up over ordering. I feel the restaurant should inform the customers more about these things, especially when it's obvious we were ordering too much. Definitely go here with big groups so you can share the wonderful food!

We were completely blown away with just have amazing Rockpool and the whole team are, and I am only full of praise for the whole team at Rockpool. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left everything was flawless. The welcome team, our waiters and sommelier were outstanding, with perfectly timed service, answers to questions, and recommendations. Everyone in the kitchen from the executive chef right down the line has this menu nailed, you could not have got it more perfect if you tired any harder, I truly believe you could choose anything on this menu and love it totally even if you think you normally would not like one or two ingredients. Combinations so perfectly balanced, and considered that every mouthful leaves you wanting more. Endless bread and butter was not endless, but rather only offered twice...after we asked. A couple seated 1/2 way through our meal were given B&B straight away...maybe because we had to keep asking.Entrees were delicious, but we ate them sheepishly as we ordered one serving but came out as two, which was not communicated to us...might have enjoyed it more if we had known...Main meat (priced over $100 for 300g) was chewy and not cooked properly. Almost bitter, and we were impressed just how bad it was.Sides were overcooked and oily (potatoes, pumpkin and brussels sprouts) to which we feel we were 'upsold' as it was far too much food.Walked upstairs to go the toilet only to be ignored by several staff members who surely must have seen my inquisitive looking...Yes, before writing this review I emailed them. I didn't wish to publicly 'name and shame' however, it was the lamest response, to which they said 'come back and give us another chance'....Everytime another restaurant/business/service/any other person offers you to come back, they usually offer a voucher or discount...but nope, nothing. I even hinted at it, to which they again gave a pretty lame response of hope to see you soon.If you've got this far in my review, well done, reading this is way juicer than the steak they offer.Head over to Porteno on Holt Street in Surry Hills for a much better experience.If you can't tell, I don't recommend going here. Shauna Wilson: Apollo has taken great care to create a restaurant with a wonderful ambience and interesting and wholesome menu. They use the finest of ingredients. Every mouthful is delicious from the taramasalata to the “fall of the bone” lamb shoulder. The lightly dusted calamari is heaven. It’s easy to have a conversation in the acoustically designed room. The staff are friendly and professional, it feels like a team working well together. It’s my second visit and I’ll be returning soon.

Chocolate Johnny: Being of Greek background, it was interesting to see what the food was going to be like here. So many people have talked about it, and we decided to have one of our families birthdays here. Firstly, the service was superb. The service staff were very kind and friendly, always asking us if we needed anything. We had set menu , and it was great. The sagnaki with olive oil and honey tasted perfect. The salad was great just needed to have real kalamata olives. The calamari was one of the softest and most enjoyable We’ve had in ages. And then the lamb came out and that was brilliant. Soft straight off the bone just reminded us of home. They gave us a little birthday cake for us to celebrate the birthday which was lovely, and a great gesture. The desert didn’t last long. Everyone finished it in seconds. Will be back and totally recommend it.

Our waitress was friendly but was nowhere to be seen for most of the night, and never asked if we wanted another drink. Will give it another go though because the food was promising.

Patrick Chung: First time at LuMi. Had the limited truffle menu which consisted of a few “snacks,” entree, main and dessert. The snacks were definitely the highlights from the gravity defying potato stack to the crispiest croissant I’ve ever had. The extra Martin we ordered was definitely a weak point and I craved a bit of fresh acidity to go with it. I’d imagine that their usual omakase is a much better standout option.Choose the truffle menu if you really want truffle, but you can get the standard menu with truffled added as well!Looking forward to coming back and trying their standard offerings. The tagliatelle with quail ragu was exceptional, although the wellington was underwhelming. Good range of cocktails and wine. Overall was a great experience and will return for omakase next time
Gianmarco Giovi: what an absolute stunning lunch has been at LuMi, we were a group of 5 and we enjoyed everything there, the ambience, the food and the service. you can surely tell the hard work and complexity of every single thing we tried and the staff made it extra special for my friends parents visiting from Italy. The standouts for me were the parsley tart, the uni gunkan, the raviolo and the quail wellington. Thank you very much for the top food trip you can find in Sydney.
Jennifer: LuMi is Japanese/Italian fusion, and we went with their standard tasting menu + extra caviar. We really enjoyed the entrees and especially the lobster chawanmushii. The waiters and servers were very professional, attentive and friendly. We did find that the dishes leaned more towards being a bit too salty & we did not enjoy the Wellington, surprisingly. The two desserts seemed quite similar and was a let down. Overall, we all agreed it was a great experience, but overpriced and nothing special. One time experience but would not be back.

Honestly, we went there and didn’t really expect the food and services would be this amazing compared to the price we paid for. Just absolutely enjoyed every dishes provided that night. The services from every staff members was a champion. Highly recommended and definitely will go back for the better menu next time as we know it will worth every cents we spend out there. Give them a try and you will always want to go back. Amazing !!

Nathan Mandla: Went to LuMi for my partners birthday last night 19/03/2023 and the overall experience was very underwhelming. We had high expectation for this restaurant and for being 2 chef hats since 2014 it did not deliver compared to other fine dining restaurants.- We paid extra for some oysters and they came out warm and did not seem fresh, even though it was fresh produce from that morning.- Every alcoholic beverage, the staff will take the empty glass and not ask if you would like anything else. We would have to ask for the menu to order again, which is not common at a fine dining restaurant.- When the staff was removing the empty cocktail glass the coaster was stuck to the bottom of the glass and it fell on our dish. She apologised and walked away but did not offer if we would like it remade by the chef, which was very poor customer service.- The value of the experience was not worth it, nothing was spectacular or amazing, very average dishes and you can get a lot better elsewhere for the amount you are spending.Overall I would not come back or recommend this place to friends and family. Quite disappointed.
The Soul Home: I had my birthday at LuMi and enjoyed it very much. We selected the regular Omikaze plus a plate of Oysters. We could have done without the oysters because by desert we were full. It is timed and portioned to perfection.The dishes are interesting, thought provoking and elegant. Some things we really liked and some things weren’t on our list- but that’s the point of an Omikaze.Overall we loved the location, service was attentive and the food innovative and well considered.I would recommend this place for romance at night and business for lunch to impress someone.Restaurants like this are needed in Sydney and it certainly does it’s location justice.
Lou B: Came here for a special occasion on a Saturday night and went with the degustation and wine pairing.Set on a Pyrmont wharf, LuMi offers a relaxing view over the water (if you get a table next to a window) and superbly presented dishes which taste as good as they look.Each dish we had seemed to have been meticulously constructed and were as delicious as they looked! The snacks in particular stood out.We were extremely satisfied by the end of it all.
