The Karate Institute - Peakhurst: what do users think?
Nicholas: Sensei Noonan is an exceptional teacher, being supportive, well studied and well practised in his teachings. What is taught isn't watered down and remains true to authentic karate. Traditions are upheld, teaching discipline and respect towards sensei, peers and dojo. The culture of this dojo fosters close bonds, supporting one another and encouraging all to strive to become better. This striving is not just within karate but is taught to carry over into daily life.I've enjoyed my time here and would encourage others to drop in as well.
Krystal D: Absolutely can't speak highly enough of Sensei Noonan and the Karate Institute. Our son has attended for the last 5 years and will continue for many more. If you're looking for somewhere that's firm, bit fun and not just the kind of place you show up and receive a belt, this is your place. Warm & inviting. Tough but fair.
Jamie Garcia: If you're looking for a good quality Karate institute, look no more. Mike Noon is really good in every thing that he do! Always recommending this place to my friends 100%
Jeremy Zafiropoulos: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI have thoroughly enjoyed training at Sensei Noonan's dojo since starting out; lessons are always a great workout, super fun, focused, and full of insight into the spirit of karate. Would highly recommend!

Vicky Labroski: Both my sons have been with Sensei Mike Noonan and the team for over 10 years and the professionalism, respect, focus and discipline they have gained is a true credit by the way this organisation is run. My sons love being part of the institute and today they volunteer and train younger kids with so much pride. It's not just about the technical training it's the incredible way Mike treats every individual. I'm super lucky to have my family part of this institute. If your after a black belt over night then you need to go somewhere else. If you want to learn true wholesome values and have your child grow in to a respectful, confident and fit young person then I would absolutely 100% recommend this place without a doubt.

My two boys have been going since they turned 5, and karate is often the highlight of their week.
Roy Johnson: Great dojo, excellent training, respect and hard work. Noonan Sensei is a master of his craft and a fantastic person as well. Highly recommend this dojo which also has a strong heritage in Japan.Roy J2221
Mark Bartolo: A Great school of REAL and AUTHENTIC karate, led by a fantastic Sensei and teaching staff.I have trained there for over a year, and have been so impressed I have brought my children to train there, as I see it being so beneficial to their development. In that time not only have I attended lessons from our own Sensei, but been given the opportunity to train with guest Sensei and the Soke (head of the style) from Japan.LIFE CHANGING

Monique Fatseas: I’ve been training at Karate Academy Sydney for almost 8 years and it has become my second home and family. Katya P.: Amazing, very professional, great support for kids and families!
Renee Jones: Very welcoming friendly professional staffExcellent with children. My daughter loves attending her classes and has learnt so much!
W4RAXE: At 58 years of age, I decided to try something new. Naturally I was hesitant and concerned at first, as I thought I would be too old and slow to learn a new skill. Maybe I would hold up the class. However, this was not the case. I was made to feel welcome by everyone, both instructors and students alike from day one! There were times I needed to ask a few questions on how to properly execute a particular movement, because I just didn't get it the first time round. What really impressed me was the head Instructor himself, Sensei Ben, stopped what he was doing, and took the extra time required for me to learn it properly. He made me feel important. He really cares about every single student, young or old.Everyone is made to feel like this because they care about your progress individually. It's fun there too. Great, friendly and respectful atmosphere. If you lack confidence, are thinking about trying something positive for yourself and looking to get fitter at the same time, I highly recommend giving this place a go. You won't look back!
Frances Aitken: Ben and the team are friendly and nurturing, willing to help, listen and provide feedback. The instructors were great with my 5 yr old - introducing him to karate with kindness and a firm approach

Ma. Bless Urbina: Fantastic place and amazing instructors. My son is excited to go to his lessons and we highly recommend Australian Karate Academy you can't go wrong 🤛
Karen Winton: This is such a great Karate Academy. My granddaughter started in 2021 and was a bit nervous at first but in no time with the care and support from Sensei Ben and all the instructors she was thriving and loving her classes. At the beginning of 2022 she had to stop classes as we moved out of the area and it was just too far to travel, we looked around for another school but could not find anything to the same standard as AKA Botany.I knew she really wanted to continue with Karate lessons so i decided to do the commute as I think it is well worth it for quality training.I highly recommend AKA Botany to anyone thinking of taking up Martial Arts..
Julia Sila: This place is amazing! All the teachers are so supportive, my kids have not just learned karate, but discipline, kindness and they’re having fun at the same time! Both of my kids are in their purple belts now and they’re enjoying their karate even more! We don’t live in the area anymore, but because we love this place, we are staying with them and will continue until my kids have their black belts.
Y YZI: Wonderful place to learn and practice. Sensei are great and very caring. Members are nice and it is like a family. It is a wonderful club for Karate, but not just Karate!
Rachel Li: Amazing community, the teachers here are all so passionate and are incredibly kind, and . Been going here for around three years and I am still eager and excited for every lesson. This school not only teaches you self defence, but also keeps you fit, and helps develop social skills and confidence, for all people and martial artists alike. Highly recommend to everyone, and I hope to be able to achieve my black belt here :)
Suzy Papadopoulos: Such an amazing organisation. My son has loved coming to each lesson. The instructors are very professional, skilled, encouraging, and genuinely care about their students. Feels like being part of a great community.
Vu Dash: Just wanted to let you know that since I came to karate I never felt more welcomed and accomodating.Martial arts has been a big passion of mine when I was young, and somewhere along the way it got lost. But every week I have something to look forward to and a goal to become a better martial artist. So not sure you get this often, but thanks again Sensei Ben for welcoming me & my son and instilling great karate & life lessons for us every week!
Chong Heng: Family friendly and safe environment to learn karate and get fit. It’s a great local community group.
Alejandro Sosa Paz: excellent place, amazing team

Adam Moorhead: I have really enjoyed trying out something new in karate and this club is excellent and affordable. It's an awesome confidence boost and great exercise too. Give it a go!
DØM: Great place
jen marsham: Positive:Professionalism,ValueGreat karate school, with excellent facilities and great instructors. Would highly recommend to everyone young and old. They offer a great choice of classes and a variety of days available.
MM Dela Cruz: The best karate dojo in Sydney! Professionally managed and excellent teachers who share practical and important lessons and skills in a fun way, especially for little ones.
Jeckie whang: Great place for kidsExercise
Sayee Swaminathan: Love my sessions at the Sydney Karate Club - Wonderful instructors, Very clean facility, fun learning - Two Thumbs up :)
Annabel: Run by a gutless nerd. This place is a joke just like the head instructor. Look at the fool, he couldn't knock the top off a rice custard.
Jeff Stanger: Excellent kids program
Yukako Honjo: My 3 year old son just started Kids Karate Saturday morning. Sensei-teachers are very dedicated and nice.
kim gleeson: Both my children and my husband do martial arts here the place has the nicest setup and a real friendly atmosphere . We all love being apart of Sydney Karate Club
Patrick Coy: It's been my second home since 2007. I love the community in the club, and the philosophy of 'constant improvement' means there's always something new to learn.
Donherra Walmsley: I've been training off and on at SKC since 2008. I like that you can work at your own pace - if you haven't got the time to commit to training regularly and grading for your next belt, you can still come along and just work on improving all of your skills and fitness. A couple of years ago I was able to start training again regularly, and since then I've been able to achieve my black belt, which was really exciting and rewarding, but you don't have to dedicate your whole life to martial arts to enjoy and get something out of training at SKC. It's a really welcoming, friendly, and supportive atmosphere and there's a variety of different skills to learn - self defence, kata, sparring, weapons... I find the sparring classes in particular to be a great way of taking my mind off my work and life stress, they're awesome fun!
Andrew Malcolm: Definitely the best martial arts club I've attended. Good facilities, lovely and friendly people and all up a great challenge. It really boosted my fitness and confidence and it feels good knowing I can fight should I ever have to.
Robert Bui: Spend 8 great years here. Great classmates! Awesome teachers! It's just so welcoming and a warm environment.
Annette B: I've been training with the instructors at the Sydney Karate Club for almost ten years now - from the Kids Karate class and now in the Kaizen Ryuu Adults class. The Sydney Karate Club has a really supportive, welcoming community that makes it really easy to learn from instructors. As well as learning a wide variety of martial arts forms, the dojo's allowed me to develop more than just self defence skills - it's allowed me to increase my confidence and has constantly challenged me from day 1.Wouldn't stay with a club for ten years if I didn't think it was pretty damn awesome.
Christie M: Sydney Karate Club is awesome! There are so many different classes on offer and they cater to all ages and skill levels. I have been training here for 5 years now, and I love every class. The classes are energetic and engaging and most of all they are fun. we learn real-world skills such as self-defense in a variety of scenarios.
Yasmin Clarke: This place has become my second home! I train here up to 4 or 5 times a week, learning freestyle karate, kobudo (traditional weapons) and generally working on fitness. There are many different classes and styles to suit everyone, including specialised kids classes. When I started I thought there was no way I would get fit or tough enough to stay in martial arts, but I'm still here four years later, which is a testament to the great atmosphere of this club. The instructors are great at encouraging you to work on both your strengths and weaknesses, and classes are fun as well as challenging. I highly recommend SKC for anyone from true beginner looking to start their journey, to accomplished martial artists looking for a change or a new place.
Lachlan Toohey: I've been training here for nearly two years now, taking classes twice a week in both freestyle karate (Kaizen Ryu) and traditional weapons (Okinawan kobudō) under the instruction of Sensei Jonathon Gleeson. The environment is friendly and encouraging - no one is looked down upon for what they don't yet know, with all the instructors and higher ranked students willing to give advice and tips from their wealth of knowledge to improve your abilities.New students are often taught slightly apart for the first lesson or two depending on what is being covered until reaching a basic level where they are able to join with the class - and all higher students will adjust to their level when training with them helping them gain skills and competency without being overwhelming or intimidating. If you have an interest in studying martial arts I highly recommend trying Sydney Karate Club!
