Bondi Rumba: what do users think?
Amy McGlynn: Fatim made me feel safe and happy. I could have a good time and enjoyed with my friends. More female security guards are needed.
Lyndon Burke: My go to local Bondi Mexican place, awesome for a weeknight dinner paired with a cold Tecate and the ambience inside is great especially out the back
Anni Odonnell: Great and low key vibe. Very authentic with quality margaritas. Great happy hour and the tacos were delicious. We got every flavour and it was all amazing. Fish tacos 10/10
L G: Was expecting some real tasty Mexican food but was disappointed. Small portion, over priced.
sophia gibson: Went for Valentines day and the atmosphere was great, but we waited ages for drinks to arrive, then the food went to the wrong table so we decided to grab it ourselves as the table was next to ours. The waitress forgot to bring us water and my partners drink. We then got charged full price when it was advertised as taco Tuesday so a discount should have been applied to the bill. The waitress then took forever to give us a refund. It was Valentines day so might have been busier than usual or they were understaffed but unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the other more positive reviews listed on here.
Veronica Conley: This place has been around since 2012 for good reason .Loved the spicy Margarita .The Tacos and the Naked bowl ..oh and the guacamole. Yum .Service was personable and excellent .Thank you .
Ben L: Absolutely amazing food
Michelle: Great atmosphere, food, service & cocktails !
Suzee Logan: We enjoyed a lovely night at Bondi Rumba recently. It’s a quirky little place with lots of atmosphere and the staff were really great. Good food and drinks. Get on in there.
Kelly 225: Amazing cocktails, good food and puppy cuddles could it get any better !! The staff were so friendly , will definitely be back.
Emily A: Love this place! Such a nice and friendly vibe, food was unreal and great beer on tap.Owner and cook were super lovely, and Mack makes the whole experience even sweeter ❤️❤️❤️
Josh Campbell: Hands down, without a doubt, the best nachos in Sydney. Fresh and incredibly tasty. Despite numerous spelling errors in instructions, restaurant called and clarified. Will order again. 5/5.P.S Shout out to the manager who deciphered my instructions
Julia Bittencourt: Very laid-back place. Ok to go after a day on the beach, but not to leave home with the idea to go there. The table and menu were a bit dirty so we were concerned to eat there, but couldn’t be bothered to go to another place so we took the risk.Besides us there was only other table occupied, but it’s still took as a while to receive drinks and food. Waitress forgot few times about our drinks, forgot to apply a discount on our bill, charged us card fee, even that I said we wouldis pay by cash.Music inside very loud and annoying.Food was good.
Nicole Alvares: Love love love this lil local gem ! Great food and by far the best Margys in town . Warm welcoming staff and great vibe . Will definitely be back for the cute bartender too ;-)
David Hlavac: Lovely place, unfortunately the food is pretty disappointing.
Vik K: Have been going here for years but unfortunately our recent experience has been very dissapointing. The quality of the food and cocktails has dropped considerably, while the prices have gone up. We paid $290 for 4ppl - the $20 nachos had 5 beans and less than a handful of scattered mince, the taccos were only half filled and the Margaritas tasted watery, with key ingredients missing. We all had to add hot sauce to the burritos to add flavour. It's really dissapointing to see the quality has dropped so much, especially while there are 5 or 6 Mexican places less than 1km away - hard to justify going back.Always loved our time here but sadly won't be coming back.
Christopher Jones: Hands down the best Margarita's in Bondi! Always a super fun vibe, great food, music and people!
Mriganka Iyer: The nachos were to DIE for. These days most places will cut back on toppings but over here they went all out with the guac, cheese, and chilli. The baja fish tacos are delicious and so flavourful too. Can’t recommend this cozy restaurant enough!
Alwyn Narayan: Ordered the DIY tacos with shredded beef for delivery. They arrived without the beef and all I got was a refund of $2.50 on the $87 and when I called the restaurant they hung up on me when I explained what happened. Very disappointing.
Charlotte Webb: Fabulous nachos best I’ve ever had perfect service
Clara Antolin: Ordered the chicken bowl - it’s shocking how plain and bland it was. No salt, no seasoning, no flavours

Contrabando: what do users think?
Daniel B.: Delicious mexican food, but pretty small portions so need to order a fair amount. We ordered the set menu, and didnt receive one of our dishes.
Kelvin Lau: Loved this place, wondering if it will ever reopen?
Review Account: Very late to post - this place has the best tacos in Sydney, hands down. I hope they reopen soon
Steph: A bit late to post, but the best tacos I’ve ever had! The bulgogi beef taco and fish taco are AMAZING. Haven’t found a fish taco that is comparable. Looking forward to the day that they reopen
Bob Sacamano: So good - cant wait for them to re-open - best tacos in town - no question
John Chan: First time, great tacos but not so good service. Second time, great service but no so good tacos.
William Chen: Great non-super-traditional Mexican food - have been checking weekly since restrictions came in whether this place was reopening yet - will be first in to devour some fabulous tacos ASAP!
Trish: LOVE LOVE LOVE all their soft tacos + guac!!! I’ve taken so many of my friends to Contrabando because it’s such an easy, casual, Mexican place with a really nice vibe and delicious food! They make pretty awesome cocktails too!
Corey: Best tacos on Tuesdays at a reasonable price.
Jason C: Definitely as described, an homage to the food trucks of SoCal with a cool vibe and decor. Still my fav by far was the fish tacos on corn tortilla but the Korean Fried Chicken and also the Bulgogi tacos definitely reminded me of the fusion you get in LA from some of the most popular food trucks. Awesome charred corn, drinks, can’t go wrong! Will be back to try the rest.
Clara Atkin: Are you hungry and want a bunch of flavours to tackle your mouth harder than those dudes playing NRL tackle each other?! Contrabando is a place I highly recommend!!Taking well known Mexican dishes and flavours and adding a very nice modern twist this place has so many options for you to indulge in. I highly recommend getting the corn (as seen in the third picture) - with a mild spice, delicious cheese, I have never eaten a corn based dish that was so delicious. Service was very quick (though we did arrive right as they opened at 5pm) and they seemed a little over staffed at the time. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and happy to give suggestions! They have a margarita of the month, we had blueberry, which we found very nice and complimenting the rich Mexican flavours. The atmosphere was pumping (I can imagine when it is full of more people) with a mix of pop and indie songs playing!Only thing I would say is the fonts used in the menu - especially the subtitles (as in the photo) can be a bit hard to read. And it can be a little expensive, but the food is quality.
Hussam Galal: Great Mexican in SydneyLovely staff and delicious food you can’t miss the guacamole. Tapas and enchiladas were also perfect. The churros are slightly different from the typical ones where they are densely covered in sugar. I prefer the classic ones and I would like to request them from the chef
Susie: Fish tacos are the best here!
Chris Sharkey: Took our work team here for a lunch and was very disappointed with the service, specifically:- Took orders from both tables out of sync such that one table was finished 20 minutes before the other.- Waitresses did not keep track of who ordered which meal so our meal was constantly interrupted by asking who ordered each dish as it came out. This was probably the worst thing, they seemed to lack basic training in how to handle group orders.- One of our party did not get his meal until we had to ask about it.- General slowness of delivery of the food despite a fairly empty restaurant, e.g. drink order took 10-15 minutes to come out.- Had to line up for nearly 10 minutes to pay at the end.- General lack of care from the waitresses about the group and when I complained at the end the lady said "oh yeah there was an issue with the ticket..so technical malfunction".The food was nice but I wouldn't ever bring my team back here nor recommend this for a professional lunch.
Julia Kim: All you can eat tacos!
Aoife Ni Cheallaigh: AYCE Tacos were amazing. Nothing to fault here. Service was 70/10. Thank you X
Jonathan Perry: Happy Friday Menu! Great food and fantastic service. If you're looking for a quiet lunch spot, not the place - real happening vibes!
Kelly McDonald: Awesome food and couldn't pass up $14 well crafted cocktails.
Sachin Doshi: Great food and service. Good variety and plenty of vegetarian options. Higher end of medium pricey but worth it. Margaritas were excellent!Updated menu posted
roee glick: I had the Fish, Beef, and pumpkin Taco's. They were absolutely delicious.
Whistle S: Went here for dinner, haven't had much Mexican before and was pleasantly surprised. Had the tasting menu and all the dishes was great. Only problem was that there was too much food and we couldn't finish! Definitely recommend!

WyNo X Bodega: what do users think?
Zanthi Fleming: An experience. Nothing I’d change
Peter Thomas: We were customers of the original bodega (as well as the wonderful 121BC which use to occupy this space). Always a great night at WyNo X Bodega of snack sized tasty food with diverse and interesting wine. Service has always been friendly and knowledgeable. I could eat the fish fingers every night of the week. A changing menu which keeps things interesting. The small size of the venue and the one big table means you can have nice moments with your neighbours. Not a cheap place - the wine in particular can take a chunk out of your wallet.
Natalie Blom: A friend and I met for dinner together when I was in town. I admit I arrived and felt a little intimidated by the luxurious interior, however staff were very friendly which put me at ease. The menu was very exciting and we were guided by the wait staff as to how best to order to accommodate dietary requirements. All the dishes we tried were delicious. Stand out for me was the "fish fingers" which have apparently been a menu staple for many years. For the level of dining provided I feel their pricing is very reasonable and we both came away very pleased with our experience.
taylorhelme: Just wonderful.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Sharni Aird: Had a lovely night, the staff and food were incredible. Lola was amazing and suggested wonderful wines and made changes to the menu to suit some of our vegan guests, highly recommend.
Clemens Overdijk: Loved this space! Great service and ambiance.
Amy: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/4Recommended dishes Arepas Grilled Corn Cakes with Creamed Corn Mojo Verde and Manchego, Grilled OctopusMore
Sabrina Haddad: My partner and I have come a few times in the last 1.5 years and it has always been great. The ambience and experience is amazing however the food tonight is very different to what we have had there before. The menu has changed and all the mains like the steak, mushrooms, scallops and eggplant are very strange, underwhelming, flavourless and difficult to eat. Disappointing because we loved the place so much and the food used to be amazing but we won’t be going back while the menu remains the same :(
Anthony Jones: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Na An: Kindness, service, taste, atmosphere, cleanliness are all the best.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Micha’el: Disappointing. The place looks so much better in the photos - in reality it’s a small and loud room with one long table to share. Very hard to hear each other / the staff. Constantly bumping the person sitting next to you.The menu is tiny and pricey with average tasting food. The description of dishes does not match what you get or properly elaborate the ingredients in the dish. No flexibility either (steak will only be served as medium rare, which was actually blue). Wine list was v small and only had cheap options for about 26$ a glass. We left hungry and with a bill of almost 200$ for two.
Marli Lopez-Hope: Absolutely sensational service. My friend and I arrived on Friday with no booking and the staff were more than accommodating. The waiter had only been working at WyNo X Bodega for a few weeks and was able to recommend a fantastic wine. Impeccable chablis, delicious tapas, great music and wonderful hospitality. Thank you. Will be back again, for sure.
Chi Ryan: Love this spot. Intimate and cozy, cute menu and except wine list
Ashleigh Hetaraka: My friend and I had the best time dining here. Great atmosphere, We really enjoyed the long shared table dining experience! The gorgeous manager gave us some great food recommendations and wine pairing!Highly recommend the crudo it is to die for and the best we have ever tried. Thank you WXB! Cannot wait to return.
Martin L: Great selection of dishes & wine.Allowing us to order steak from Porteno next door was a great show of hospitality and accomodation
Benjamin Haywood: Amazing food, service and of course wine 🍷Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Al Can: Food was very nice.Service was OK… the whole “we don’t have a wine list, tell us what you like”, that’s a miss for me.Value, fail… $6 per person for sparkling water out of a ZIP fountain? Very small portions.
Na S: I used to love the old Bodega restaurant, the service and the food. The recent experience at the new venue was a let down though. The space was cramped, the food was underwhelming yet strangely overpriced. We were told there is no drinks menu, and there were no indication of how much we were being charged for drinks until the bill came.I would not recommend this place 👎
Candice .T: Great service paired with delicious food - wagyu and cheesecake were the highlights.
Ingrid Elgar: Charged $29 for a small glass of wine! When I arrived I asked for a wine list and told there wasn't one. The sommelier asked what my friend and I liked. After a couple options, I asked for a glass of the same wine my friend ordered.Instead he brought another wine and said "I think you'll like this".It was nice so he poured me a glass.I was quite shocked when the bill arrived and I was charged $29 for a small glass of wine. The wine I had asked for was $15.Very uncool! I won't be going back. Why don't you have a wine list and why don't you let your customers know what they are paying for?

Diego Cardona: 3 hours to complete a delivery, unbelievable, last time I also had the Mexican rice and they gave a bunch of rice with bits a pieces of pork, I asked the waitress and she said they didn’t have the other ingredients??? She could’ve mentioned that prior, I gave it a pass that time but not this one, absolutely rubbish. On top of everything that is wrong, the food is particularly expensive.

Franco Robleto: This wonderful Latin cuisine place came to me miraclelously while craving something homey, a feel which many of us Latinos in Sydney can relate with having only few latino food places in the city. What a delicious surprise was to discover how authentic their food tastes!I ordered a side of beans, plantain patacones with cheese, and a side of maduro too. YUM!! The culantro (coriander) in the beans, heaven! Ah, I already want to go back again by just thinking if the platains while writing this review.I think what added to the experience was also the feeling of being in a place where its people here know and share the love for Latino cuisine. The attention and service from the Kitchen was top of the line. The atmosphere is so cheerful I can tell many fiestas start spontaneously, just like the Latino people's joy!Gotta go get some more patacones con frijolitos, don't doubt giving this place a visit!

Karina Arias: While the food at this restaurant is of good quality (I really enjoy the food), their online ordering process leaves much to be desired, particularly with platforms like Uber Eats. Our experience has been frustrating more than once, as our orders are often assigned to multiple drivers, making delivery times unpredictable. Furthermore, the restaurant's phone lines are frequently unanswered, adding to the frustration. It appears that online orders are not given the same priority as in-person orders, even when our orders are running behind schedule.
Sebastian Moreno: NO RECOMIENDO ESTE LUGAR.
Paulina Pacheco: I went last night for the “Chilean Night” and it was a really bad/poor experience.Service was really bad: we got the food but no cutlery or plates to share. Every time the waitress came to drop a dish she was literally throwing it to the table. Before we got our quesadillas, she took all the cutlery and plates and didn’t bring new ones. The music was extremely loud and the DJ was screaming on top of the music. We asked to be moved to the outside and even tho, it was impossible to have a chat with friends.I won’t come back, even when the food and drinks were ok.
Jairo Martinez: This restaurant takes ages to deliver a simple ajiaco can’t believe what a bad service👎👎

Marc Triffitt: Went here 5 years ago and had very fond memories of a fantastic night. However we just experienced very ordinary service in a very empty restaurant. Staff unattentive and unintersted, 25 mins for drinks and had to wait our own table because of the lack of service. Literally had to jump up and down in a song and dance to get a beer. The DJ playing spice Girls would have been much better off serving guests.

Matthew Henning: Trying to find a restaurant that gives service rable side rather than having to order and prepay. I realize this is most likely due to staff shortages because of covid 19. But there are travelers that are accustomed to service especially at our home countries. Food was done nicely especially the starter courses. They only complaint that started things downhill was being pushed. Due to the restaurant closing at 9pm. We arrived at 8pm. We ordered main courses at the same time we ordered our starters. All good so far. When the mains came out my wife's main and vegetable side came out. My main was nowhere to be found. I was immediately asked if I wanted to order. Presumably dessert. I said no thank you and asked about my meal. Approximately 7 minutes later it arrived. Again I was asked to order any more foods now because the kitchen closes at 9pm. I was getting annoyed at this point. My main was disappointing due to the overall plate. The vegetable sides were old and over done. Baby peeled carrots with tops were so over done and old. Side order of two I am guessing as some type of fingerling potatoes were cold and grey. The lamb was was enjoyable as the meat was cooked to a nice mid rare. As a traveler, there are times when visitors are spending hundreds of dollars, attention to detail is very much needed. This main dish for me was what was left over vegetable with a nice piece of meat. Server did a fine job until the pushing began. Not his fault. He is doing what he is instructed to do.
John Yatman: Great night out with the wife, great service and amazing food. Highly recommend, will be back .
David Garcia: The food is bad. The croquetas del día 7aud each and they're the size of my pinky, tasteful bite though. We ordered jamón de bellota and it's borderline scam, bad quality with dry parts. The pulpo a la gallega I'm not sure what it's supposed to be floating on, tiny potatoes and a few tips of the legs. Chorizo a la sidra was dry and bad quality chorizo, very similar to the one you can buy in woollies. The roasted cauliflower was nice. Overall very overpriced for what you get both quantity and quality wise. The beer is good. The place has a nice half covered outdoor terrace which is nice too.
Eliza Maria Mihaila: The food was good, but the wine, man, you can get a muuuuch better wine at $92 aka 10 euros. The "cheap" wine is really cheap!!Service: 5/4|Atmosphere: 5/4 …More
Prabhjot: Been here a few times over the years and it never disappoints. Consistently great food, drinks and service each time. melody chen: Astonishingly disappointed for the service.Plus, unfriendly to people dont understand Spanish. The menu is updated recently with 80% Spanish (really confusing especially when the waiter dont explain much)We dont have much experience to Spanish food but wondering to have a try on my birthday. However, the Asian middle-aged waiter with glasses was being rude all the time.He kept the annoying arrogant attitude started when we asked for water.‘’please let me repeat here” with his impatient tune, we could even see he slightly rolled eyes. The vibe was great and most seats already full when we arrived. We thought the waiter cannot hear us in the beginning but turned out simply rude.Food is at medium level, flank steak is abit old to chew, Pescado del Diaa souce tastes better than fish. Moreover, I ordered dessert but no birthday words on the plate or any words from the waiter (I know the system would highlight since the reception lady confirmed its my birthday booking)We absolutely would not come again.
Stephane Tran: The service was amazing! Steven looked after us well. While some recommendations didn't quite hit the mark, we enjoyed most dishes, especially the lamb shank and the bunuelo 👌. Would gladly come again.Food: 5/4|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/4 …More
Andrew Panigyrakis: Excellent Tapas and Sangria. Stephen did a great job recommending courses and looked after us very well. Great evening and we’ll be returning. Thanks Stephen.
Penny Whitfield: Fabulous meal and really lovely staff. We went for dinner with friends and had a great evening. The staff were very friendly, welcoming helpful and attentive and the food was delicious. It wasn’t cheap but, given the quality of the dishes and overall experience, it was money well spent.

Rebecca C: It's pretty great this place is open from morning to evening as I've been wanting to check this place out for a while.Being new to Colombian food I would say it is a watered down version of Mexican food. Imagine nachos with guacamole without sour creamFood highlights would be the empanadas, nice texture and crunch. My favourite is the cheese filling, followed by chicken or beef.I also like the burritos, the smoked chicken was nice.Ordered the Tamales - it is bland and missing some flavour. The exotic fruit shake was ok not much flavour. Nacho chips were nice, guacamole was fresh.Service is really good. It's a very casual eatery, there is a small number of indoor and outdoor seating.I would come back if I was around the area for the empanadas. Wasn't really wowed by the otherdishes I tried unfortunately.

Bar Tapa: what do users think?
Jessica Saunders: One of the best places to eat, sit and enjoy some people watching and the Tinto de Verano is delicious
Justin Zhu: Good variety of tapas and good service.
Alejandro M: Wasted my time going there just to find out they were closed. No update in Google maps, their website nor their FB page. Very unconsidered.
Evelyn Liong: Unfortunately we came late to the party; On their second last night before closing of the business. Delicious food, great range of Sherry and very knowledgeable staff.Happy to have made it and very sad it was a once off.
Gian Cerutti: Guy at the bar… could learn a thing or two on customer service!
Simon James: Unreal experience! I thought I was Barcelona the whole evening.
Alberto Madrid: This is the real deal. Look no more. We've come to Bar Tapa on several occasions and both the service and the food are always wonderful. For all of you who complain, please just think twice and be mindful about being 17,000 kilometres away from home.Unapologetically Spanish, love it.
Michelle Ball: I haven't been here in years, but called in tonight with 2 friends, and was still very happy with the food, the variety, the atmosphere.Good tapas, clean flavours, good portions and a range of specials to keep the menu interesting. Oh good wine too!
Ali Obeido: Staff were friendly, food was fantastic, great vibe on a Saturday night, highly recommend for a date night or with friends
Michael Foster: Amazing food! Loved the sangria too. 😁
Robbie Purcell: Great little bar in what's becoming a solid food precinct on Stanley St. Friendly staff, great music but good damn that squid is the bomb. Worth going for five plates of that. Really reasonably priced and good selection.
Foo Fighter: This casual restaurant is awesome. The food and ambience really gives you a taste of Spain. The staff were lovely to deal with. My wife and I will definitely return. Highly recommended.
Raymond Kool: A vibrant, interesting and very friendly tapas bar.The food served was prepared well and served delicious and hot.The cocktails were well made.Really enjoyed the obliging and friendly staff.Very reasonable pricing.
Aoife Ann: Feel like you're in Spain in Sydney. Great staff, great food and great vibe. Thank you for a perfect experience.
Borja Del Pozo Cruz: Si we went there a group of us and it was highly disappointing! I am from Spain myself and this is definitely not a Spanish topical bar. To start with, staff were unfriendly. Food was expensive and very average. So, if you want to taste real Spanish food AND in a typical Spanish environment go somewhere else. Seriously.
Bruno Jimenez: Great food!
D: Very genuine
Neill Horsman: Great little intimate spot.Friendly passionate staff severing up amazing food drinks.Try the stuffed peppers!!
Pablo Lledo: If you want the experience of a good tapas bar, this is the one. This bar would be a very good one if it were in Spain. Here in Sydney, the best I tired so far. It's not the typical restaurant with an endless low quality menu, they have a modest menu which is more than enough, but you know everything they serve is top quality and excellent flavours. The service is excellent, always smiling and fast. The price is very reasonable, I would say cheap for the quality you get.
Michael Harvey: My wife and I went last night looking forward to a nice Spanish feed. The music was SO loud that we left after 2 minutes without ordering anything. Is this place meant to be a restaurant or a nightclub??

Tatiana Ramírez: Deliciosa comida, muy bien servicio 😁
angie mora: La mejorr comida rápida que se consigue en sdney 💥😌👌
Ramon Sá: Good Latin American street food
No Rego: Good tasty food. A bit expensive for Mexican takeaway but ok. Staff don't smile but it does get busy at lunchtime.
Jason Smith: One of my trusty go-to's for lunch. Fresh ingredients and generous servings.
Bill Robinson: Super slow and poor customer service, don’t waste your time
Jason Border: Can't believe it's taken me so long to get here. Awesome Mexican. I jumped straight to the chip burrito and wasn't disappointed. Really quick service, even at 1pm. Will be back asap.
Michelle Campbell: Burritos was excellent, I shared it with my husband since the portions are giant.
Mishu Nobi: They make great breakfast burritos, but for some reason when I turn up in the morning the staff are so busy prepping for lunch time they roll their eyes when they see me walk in. Very disengaged. Happened multiple times so I stopped going. Maybe don't offer breakfast if you are not in the mood to serve it.
S Rebecca: Best burritos period. You don't how good a burrito could taste until you try it here
Camel Yang: Definitely try their steak and chicken! Perfectly seasoning and unbelievable tenderness
Gary L: $12 vege burrito with chips inside as well. A good lunch option . Wait is about 5 mins at lunch time. 3 eat in seats. A small section of South American products for sale as well. Staff friendly. Easy as. I asked for mild sauce, next time I'll go a bit spicier, it was a tad on the bland side, maybe some more seasoning would help. Easy walk down to darling Harbour to enjoy the views with your burrito!
Dushan Prodanovic: Incredibly tasty, authentic Colombian food. GREAT BURRITOS 🤯🤯🤯
Ivan Kozlov: Solid burritos. I still think Australia needs Chipotle
Jeff Hui: Great Mexican on par with California

D Z: great vibe, love ham croqueta and cheese cake the most!Recommended dishes Croquettes, Cheesecake …More
Meggie Song: The octopus tasted bitter, and the red wine was ordinary. Potatoes and desserts were not bad.Recommended dishes King Prawns, Spicy Potatoes, Cheesecake …More
Jeanne K.: Good food ..friendly services.
Jorge Rodríguez: Las croquetas son lo mejor
g1 cheyne: Brilliant
Jon Murray: Food was good, service was best described as passive aggressively slow. You know when you catch a waiters eye and they're pretending you haven't?Even when not busy, drinks service was slow, we needed to prompt them after watching a couple of staff have an extended conversation while we waited 15 mins for our ordered wine to arrive.Merivale normally does a great job with their staff, but won't be returning to Bar Topa due to a very average service experience. Even had to ask twice for the bill.
Cheryl Stevns: There's no doubt you could be in a bar in Spain, layout and decor wise but not a particularly inviting one. Everything seemed so half-hearted from the food presentation on the bar, the hard to read blackboard menu on the back wall, the bar staff, the drinks, to the food.We settled down at the bar and questioned the waiter over portion size: "meant for sharing", he said. We chose two tapas and ordered our wine.100ml glass of Albarino @ $16.00 (two sips and it was gone) $37.00 for the larger 250ml glass was excessively priced. Yes, it is a known expensive wine, but!Our food arrived, ages later, long after our glasses were drained: Octopus at $22.00, consisting of a few tiny pieces charred beyond recognition accompanied by seven thin slices of potato in highly seasoned oil. I considered sending it back. Then a string of three very small, chubby chorizo sausages in the same oil turned up and out to be just passable. Bread to go with: four tiny slices of round something or rather. Why it took so long to chargrill our octopus and heat the chorizo is a complete mystery. The barman seemed oblivious to our questioning looks and too to the appearance of the food he set down in front of us. Just awful! We paid, a lot for what we got, and left, disappointed, having been so keen to try this place. It could be SO much better. If you are a new comer to pintxos/tapas, have not felt the joy of standing in a crowded bar in Spain, snacking on said morsels then lucky you because you will never understand why this place is so disappointing.
박꿀비: 🍷🍷🍷🍷Food: 5/4|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Catherine: I was so excited for this place after seeing an authentic Spanish tapas menu. However, the quality of the food was far from decent. The octopus was soaking in a cheap oil, and the portion was so measly that it was almost ridiculous. And the padrón peppers - genuinely, what a disaster! I eat ample amounts of wasabi and various spicy chilis however one of these peppers made me feel like I was having an allergic reaction. When I notified the staff, they were extremely dismissive.Overpriced and generously disappointing.
Paul Kwan: Recommended dishes Jamón Ibérico, Octopus & PotatoMore
Stella Yuen: Food was pretty nice, a bit pricy for the size of the dishes. Drinks on the other hand, cheap but all tasted mehhh
Michael McLoughlin: Very enjoyable
Benjamin Catt: The shear rudeness of the staff will forever stick out to me. Upon trying the Padron Peppers, expecting the normal soft crunch; I was welcomed by what can only be described as the hottest pepper I’ve ever eaten. When bringing this issue up with the staff they questioned why I’d eaten 2 peppers and that the staff should’ve warned me (which they didn’t). From the complaint, the staff then ignored me and took forever to take the bill. Would seriously avoid but has so much potential.
leung yasmine: Cosy and friendly service. Figo is a star, knowledgable and professional. A must go place in Sydney. I love the spicy potato, pair it with Mezcal, heavenly.
Curt: Was waiting in line before two ladies and the waiters decided to let the two ladies in first because they were blocking the entrance. I understand today is international women's day but this gesture to discriminate like that is just straight up disrespectful.
Brandon Wu: One of my go to pre dinner bars, really nice Spanish tapas and simple cocktails to enjoy. Some of the highlights would be the Cuttlefish, Jamon, chorizo, octopus and some of their specials.
MAR CG: Really expensive, I’m not sure that the food is homemade and we had really tiny portion. Cocktails are not made with love, I don’t recommend
MICHU Inc: Small bar resto. Service is good. Prices are fair but to take note the dishes are Tapas size (small).Steak sandwich is small but taste wonderful. Cuttle fish is toddler size. Croquetas are small bits but it taste good.Drinks are good price BUT miniature size.
