Michele and his wife and all the team are so welcoming and friendly, always happy to make amendments or suggestions depending on your preferences. Elizabeth Frizell: A friend and I were keen to try this restaurant given its great reviews. What a terrible letdown it was! We had dinner there on a Friday night in March, and the restaurant was only half full (i.e. not a night when the busyness of the restaurant can excuse what subsequently happened…) We ordered a selection of 4 Meze plates, including the spanakopita (surely a very commonly ordered dish in a Greek restaurant?). Our young waitress had trouble understanding what spanakopita was, requiring us to point out that it was the “spinach pie”. The meze plates were quite good, but the spanakopita never arrived. Having finished the rest of our dinner, we gave up waiting and cancelled the spanakopita. There were no apologies from our waitress.We decided to order the “dessert for two” instead. This consisted of two small triangles of very dry baklava accompanied by two tiny scoops of vanilla ice cream at a cost of $24! Do not be deceived, it was certainly not the delicious desert with cherry and raisin ice cream described on the website. So disappointing, so expensive!When it came time to pay the bill, another (apparently more experienced) waitress said to us (actual quote) “oh we found your spanakopita by the way. It was at the back of the oven, all burnt.. The timer didn’t go off!!”. Is there a Sophie? Does she know about this? A total disaster.***RESPONSE TO SOPHIEThank you Sophie for your reply, which is very much appreciated. It is clear that you were operating under very challenging circumstances on the evening that we visited.I would certainly like to give the restaurant another try and will message you directly.

What a nice place to dine in ,fresh food everything was cooked perfectly, my personal favourite was the octopus and the dips from the meze section, and the lamb shoulder was next level very yummy and tinder overall very very satisfied highly recommended place,,, if you’re interested in greek cuisine this is most definitely one of the best places to visit. Been to so many Greek restaurants around Sydney Melbourne and Adelaide nothing compared to sofie’s greek.Vegetarian options: They have veggies and gluten free options too

We left feeling very disappointed as we went to the Resturant based on the many great reviews. The menu was over priced for the meals we were served and the food was something we could have cooked ourselves at home. We ended up going to Ripples at Chowder bay the next day, where we paid the same price but had a much better quality meal.

Joanne Giusti: We followed a long trail of reviews for “best moussaka in Sydney” at Sofie’s, then travelled from liverpool to Balmain to try it. We were swept up with fantastic food, great atmosphere and wonderful service. The Moussaka really was beyond our expectations, such a delicious dish, as were the other dishes including octopus, Greek salad, chicken souvlakia, and lemon potatoes. My partner had never tried eggplant let alone Moussaka so we are extatic about such a memorable experience for us both. We’ll definitely will be back, can’t wait…. Thank you Sofie and staff!

Water bought to my table for my little boy with only the slightest eye contact required which is rare.With all the pretentious over priced restaurants in Darling Harbour do your self a favour and please give these guys a try the value, service and food is exceptional. Busy breakfast service was about finishing up, and moving into the 'late breakfast' crowd.I was seated after waiting for about five minutes, but another customer waited ten minutes without anyone acknowledging him (bad service - the poor man was looking around for staff).I ordered a pot of tea ($5.50) and eggs Benedict ($18).Tea took 20 minutes to arrived after I ordered, and the food took another 15 minutes after that.I was not impressed with the long wait, as I saw other tables that came in after me getting their drinks before I did.I would recommend the owner to get more staff to attend to the busy weekend morning customers.Prices were expensive for the size due to the location. Service was not attentive nor friendly.Overall, my dining experience was very blah. Unlikely I'll go back for another meal.
Sherlaine Ramasamy Naidoo: The food was appalling, absolutely no flavour what so ever, a little salt goes a long way. We ordered 5-6 different things on the menu one of which was the lamb pizza - that atleast was edible. The service was also bad , we had to ask for our drinks 2-3 times before we got it. This was simply because the 3 staff that worked that day were overwhelmed, they however were very kind. Anyway, never again will I go to this resturant nor would I recommend it.

Meg Hicks: Stopped at Mediterranea for dinner on a whim while passing by and was very happy with our meals.We had lamb ragu and a starter of chicken wings and both were delicious. Generous enough servings that both of us well fed well. We even ordered a take away pasta for a friend to enjoy.Great service by all wait staff, well deserving on a 5 star rating.

Nicole Hamilton: The one star I gave is for the front of house staff who were lovely. We ordered the seafood platter - $150. The lobster was like leather. So over cooked. The fish was dry and completely overcooked. The scallops were cooked so much they came out the size of peas. The octopus was inedible and 1/2 of the platter was cold chips. The calamari started off well but after the top few pieces were eaten, the rest was like leather as well. The mussels had a nice flavour and were cooked quite well. We did tell the staff and made it clear that we didn't want any compensation, just that the chef should know how bad it was because we couldn't see how people would go back serving food like that. She did kindly take 10% off the bill which was nice though.

Emmanuel Schweitzer: Putting four stars as an encouragement but I wasn’t swept off my feet.Had a business trip early dinner and decided to go for moussakas and a glass of ouzo.While the main tasted good, I am still looking for the aubergines — in all the travels I made to Greece, the dish had plenty of aubergines and just a few potatoes at the bottom as a base… here it was mostly potatoes with a lone aubergine on top so the taste was definitely not the one I was looking for 🤷♂️The ouzo was nice and reasonably priced, but was for some reason served in the tiniest of glasses with a couple of ice cubes. Anyone who tasted ouzo will appreciate that you probably would want to have a slightly bigger recipient to top off with chilled water if so desired as it’s pretty strong as is. Time and again I’ve also seen the beverage served surrounded by ice cubes to keep it chilled but avoid additional further dilution due to melting once mixed as desired.Staff was quite diligent when asked to remedy though. You however wish they showed more initiative as the owner had to chip in too often in my humble opinion.A pleasant experience overall.

Shauna Wilson: Apollo has taken great care to create a restaurant with a wonderful ambience and interesting and wholesome menu. They use the finest of ingredients. Every mouthful is delicious from the taramasalata to the “fall of the bone” lamb shoulder. The lightly dusted calamari is heaven. It’s easy to have a conversation in the acoustically designed room. The staff are friendly and professional, it feels like a team working well together. It’s my second visit and I’ll be returning soon.

Service was exceptional, the chef came out to talk to us and was very friendly to all tables.The must have dishes are the "charred octopus" ; "Greek feast for four" (includes beef kofta, chicken, lamb shank, chickpeas etc) and for dessert "bougatsa with lemon curd".We also had Ouzo which is an aperitifs and is very popular in Greece to end our meals with. The aniseed flavour brings it together to have it together with your meal.I would definitely recommend your friends to come here. Great ambience and great food at an affordable price!
