It also specifically refers to the cuisine of the Japanese-Peruvians which started more than a century ago when the first Japanese immigrated to Peru in the late 1890s. Combining Japanese techniques and flavours with local Peruvian produce, a diverse and unique cuisine was born.

In Quechua, an aboriginal language from Peru, Warike (or “warique”) means two words. The first being “wa” in which referred to everything that was unknown, or that was hidden in secret. The second is “rique” which means stew.

Now, translated and adapted, Warike might be an exclusive place for those who know it and those who like its food.
