Following the change in focus and change of name in 2017 the Club (called The Rugby Club Foundation Limited, to better reflect its new principal object and activities) now has a new vision of “Sharing the Spirit of the Game’’ to encourage the sport of Rugby, and, through this vision, we are increasing our financial support of grassroots Rugby across the country. The Club currently gives financial support to grassroots Rugby programs across NSW.


As a member of The Rugby Club Foundation and an active participant in its events, you continue to play an integral role in supporting grassroots Rugby.


Our members are the heart and soul of the Club and include current and former participants, passionate fans and dedicated supporters of the game of Rugby in Australia. Your ongoing membership and support are an essential part of the persuit of the Club's new vision and focus.


Established in 1945, originally at Lambs Building, 32 Jamieson Street, and then at Rugby Place (formerly Crane Place) off Pitt Street in 1952, The Rugby Club was originally the headquarters of the NSW Rugby Union and later the Australian Rugby Union.


Grassroots Rugby Programs benefit from The Rugby Club Foundation grants program


Since 2017, The Rugby Club Foundation has given financial support to 116 grassroots Rugby programs, providing opportunities for male and female players, coaches and officials of all ages, abilities and levels of experience, in all formats of Rugby across the State of NSW. The Rugby Club Foundation looks forward to expanding its grants program in the future.

The exclusivity attached to membership of The Rugby Club Foundation will mean that the members will be fundamental in “Sharing in the Spirit of the Game” by participating in the strategies and events which are evolving for the benefit of Rugby in Australia.

Waverley Rugby Club is one of Sydney’s proudest and most successful Rugby Clubs. We have claimed in the Men's Competition 11 Club Championships and 49 Suburban Premierships which, together with a women's premiership, makes 50 Premierships across the grades in the last 52 seasons.


Waverley Rugby Club fields six senior men’s grades and an U21s (colts) team. One of the most multinational clubs in Sydney, Waverley Rugby Club are winners on and off the pitch.


In 2022, Waverley won the "Cowboy Cup" Inter-Divisional Club Championship (across all divisions) and the Bruce Graham Shield 1st Division Club Championship, as well as having all 6 teams reach the semi-finals, playing in 5 of the 6 grand finals, winning three premierships:

We’re a famously social bunch, with an epic calendar of events that showcases our penchant for a cold beer and a few tall tales after a tough game.

We love to win and, with a few Kentwell Cups and a host of great seasons under our belts, we think the results speak for themselves.

Come and join us for Season 2023. We field five senior men’s teams, a colts team (U21) and two women’s teams.

Training is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30pm at Camperdown Oval in Sydney’s Inner West.

Season 2023 kicks off on April 15th - with Petersham competing in Division One of the NSW Subbies Rugby competition.
