Nic Narapiromkwan Foo: I am incredibly upset and disgusted by the service that my dad and, particularly, my brother were provided. My brother is schizophrenic and has been struggling to find and retain work as a result of his condition. He had an interview at 11am on Tuesday 7 June as organised by Centrelink. Works4You were seeking a full timer for a particular position, however, as my brother has multiple weekly doctors and psychiatrist appointments, he is not able to work full time hours. This was an honest mistake and miscommunication between us, Centrelink and Works4You— a mistake which both my brother and dad apologised for. What was not acceptable nor appropriate was the scope of the employee’s reaction. He was extremely condescending and accused my brother of wasting 15 minutes of his day. When my dad tried to explain that it was a genuine miscommunication and there was no need to speak to my brother in that manner, the employee responded that it was not his problem and to “go back to where they sent you from”. The employee then continued to accuse my brother and dad of “taking advantage of the system”. This was beyond hurtful. As a working class immigrant family of Asian descent, this type of vile rhetoric is something we constantly face. For a representative of this organisation— an organisation whose main objective is to help those in similar situations as my brother find employment— to be spewing such vitriol is not only cruel and unprofessional, but also immensely harmful. Both my brother and dad are remarkably distressed by this interaction. I highly suggest that this particular employee undergo rigorous training on empathy and compassion, not only for the sake of the organisation, but for his own sake.If you are someone in search of employment, I would highly suggest that you find an alternative recruitment and training service as to avoid the prejudice, discrimination and general lack of humanity that my family experienced with Works4You.

Manoela Prusch: I've completed 3x Diplomas with ACBI (Dip of Social Media Marketing, Dip of Graphic Design and an Adv Dip of Digital Marketing) and only have good things to say about my time at the college - the curriculum is very complete and very hands on (especially in the Dip of Graphic Design and the Adv Dip of Digital Mkt), all the trainers I've had were highly qualified and the staff always provided me and other international students with amazing support (especially during the challenging times of the pandemic). Can't recommend it enough!

Yuki ZUS: I feel like I just wasted time and money. I have heard that other courses are more practical there, but IT is not a good choice in this college. They don't teach, they just show you how to do the assessment or even just do the assessment during classes, literally nothing else - no practice, just plain theory and just to finish the assessment... It is all about googling answers, no real learning or skill acquisition. The teachers literally tell you to google everything, which even they do while teaching as they don't have enough knowledge! I asked a question and was told "just google it" or just shown which website to use to find my answers... Additionally, they focus more on business, not really on IT skills.On the bright side, the staff is really nice and they are helpful, but again, to learn anything you have to ask specific questions and actually get teachers to teach you, they don't do it by themselves... Most of the student in my group complained, but I think no one wants to get in trouble and they just gave up, knowing most private colleges are like that. Not fair that you come on an expensive student visa and just waste your money without getting any knowledge. You can learn more by yourself, online.If I were to find more positives: the building is nice, the college is close to the station and it is quite modern.

Val N.: I simply can't believe it's been almost a year since I started my studies at ACBI.From my very first time stepping at the campus for a campus tour, the staff has been very welcoming and helpful.Once enrolled, they were re supportive and had a great follow-up on all the questions i could have.In my Certificate IV Environmental Management and Sustainability, we have the chance to discuss about projects we want to create, topics and causes that matter to us, and which we want to talk about. We are given the chance, the time and the resources to DO something, not just talk about it.Students are also challenged with the weekly (free) Speech Class, which is another highlight of every week i spend at school. You don't only learn to become more confident talking to an audience, organise your ideas. You practice talking about what is important to you, and that is the best feeling ever to be listened to, and given tips to constantly improve.All the trainers i have come accross at ACBI have a valuable knowledge about their topic: they experienced it, and didn't just learn about it at university. I feel this is the best to prepare students to the " real professional world" as we say.The many student events are also great, to meet people from other classes, relax and see the hidden music or photograph talents, or learn about the non-profit organisation someone has created, works with, or is simply important to one of us.Even though I my classes run only Mondays and Tuesdays, ACBI became like a second home. These are 2 days were I am happy to go to school, happy to see these familiar faces, happy to learn with a great mix of lectures/activities/individual work. Happy to be challenged, not by the classes and homeworks, but by the opportunities given. Happy to not be just a student among others. People know you at ACBI, and they look after you.I have only one regret: that i have only 3 weeks left... for now! :)THANK YOU ACBI !
