Bodhi Restaurant: what do users think?
Steven Ly: Been to Bodhi multiple times over the years. With the news of it closing we wanted to get in for a final experience. Managed to get an 8pm booking on closing night. The entrees were good, but came out lukewarm. Steamed vegan egg in particular and was barely warm, quite sweet and not eggy in flavour at all.The mains followed suit, crispy silken tofu was not crispy at all with a cold interior. We couldn’t help but make a comment to waitstaff as it was our last time there and we wanted our experience to be good. They took the dish back to remake and as we dived into our yellow curry, it also was lukewarm. When I told the waitstaff they assured us that it’s made hot every time but clearly was not. Met with attitude after they microwaved our dish with a passing comment of, “is it hot now?”.Sad to see it close and also sad our last experience was not a great one for an establishment of Bodhi’s reputation to not go out with a bang.
Curtis Badger: I think it's great you have Keith Lemon working for you at front of house, but why on earth is he so sassy? The way in which he talks to customers is truly horrific
Michelle M: Love, love Bodhi! Can't believe it is closing in August. What a huge loss for Sydney! Incredible selection of vegan and vegetarian dim sim always beutifully presented, located in a lovely garden setting right next to the iconic St Mary's cathedral. Bodhi we will miss you ☹️Vegetarian options: All food here is vegetarian and vegan
Lynne Bennett: Desperately upset that it was my last Bodhi meal. Always delicious. Thank you Bodhi for excellent quality food. Sad to see one of Sydney's best Vegetarian restaurants closing its doors, hopefully not forever.
Judy K: Great vegan restaurant, some dishes lacked the typical umami flavour would get from the real deal but it’s a nice alternative. The prawn dishes weren’t the best as the prawn tasted exactly like sweet imitation crab. The best dishes were probably the sweet ones like the deep fried sweet potato pancakes and passion fruit Chinese donuts, probably because they weren’t trying to be something they’re not.
wilson ww: Bodhi are about to close after over 30 years in business. We went there yesterday for a final yum cha lunch. The service was mostly aloof. We were up for a big feed but after about 45 mins we got the distinct feeling they wanted us out, each waitperson stopping to look at our tab and then we were no longer offered food although some trays had items on we hadn't had yet. Then our bill arrived while we were still eating.I told him we were not done and enquired about more food, his reply was "we want to close at 3". well you could have said so when you seated us even though our booking said 3:30 and you could have given us notice that kitchen was closing so we could have ordered more food. we were offered one more dish that was available and it arrived with the updated bill. thanks.one would thin that being your final week you would want to upsell and make more money but i could see that the staff had zero morale since they would be unemployed after this week and it was obvious they just didn't care. i had to ask for a knife from 3 waiters before i got one. The food was okay, slightly below their average and the chilli sauce (which is hardly hot) was too jammy and we weren't offered more when it ran out. Bill for 2 people was $155.
Viva La Dida: So sad it's closing
Anmol Puri: 2019: Love the vegan food here..try yumcha2022: Went again on Saturday.. before it closed doors... yummy food as ever... tried the yellow curry, lettuce baskets and zuccini flower... I would highly recommend Cheesecake which was the highlight.
Fraser Cargill: As a Vegan of 30+ years I have eaten Vegan food all Over the world and the Bodhi is certainly up there with the best of the places I have eaten. One of my favourite Sydney restaurants and I am devastated to know they are closing soon - I hope it is only in that location and they will pop up somewhere else.Fantastic array of Yum Cha dishes that just keep coming - very easy to run up a big bill though if there are a few of you as the food is so good you will want to keep trying more. I would prefer if the dishes came in servings of 4 pieces as coming in 3s means you end up ordering 2 if there are 4 of you. It really is the only downside to what is a fantastic place.Love the sliders, the ginger wontons and really love most of the tofu dishes. The blanched, lightly seasoned Kailan is so simple but so delicious. Be careful with the equally delicious fried chocolate balls as that hot chocolate is, well hot....Can't think when I last got upset at a restaurant closing down :(
Kylie Innocente: It never disappoints - delicious, timely arrival of dishes, the atmosphere is sublime.
sophia collins: 3 stars, solely for the food we were served.I heard of Bodhi after turning vegan and was really looking forward to it. I love yum cha and was so excited and had really high expectations. The service was abysmal, we ordered one soft drink (between two) that didn’t come until after the bill was paid. We were served 3 dishes in a 30 minute time frame and weren’t served anything we had wanted to try because they had quote “run out of food”. There was no explanation of how it worked and flagging down a waiter was a nightmare. We were brought the same dish 3 times and refused it each time as we didn’t want the prawn option. I’ve seen all these beautiful examples of what is served and we didn’t try any. It got to the point where we just wanted to get out so $80 later, possibly one of my least favourite dining experiences and even though the food was good, it’s something I’d definitely be sharing if anyone would ask if I’d been. I wouldn’t be recommending a visit even if this place wasn’t closing in the coming weeks, I wouldn’t be returning anyway.
Strata Choice: Sitting people at 2:15 who had bookings - all the food is over by 2:30. Dont sit people in far corners if you know your servers never go that far with the food, everything was done by the time they reached us. Good thing you are closing. Awful experience
Jeni Pattison: Great food, quick service, lovely location. We all enjoyed our lunch.
Mitchell Honey: Was very pleased at how much flavour was in the food considering the diet restrictions.
Ree Emerald: My sister and I had the worst experience recently at this restaurant. Table, cutlery and crockery were dirty and old. Brought us the incorrect orders. Chai was milk, hot water with some cinnamon dropped in. Tasted like milk water which was ghastly for $7!!!! Green tea was luke warm. Servers didn’t Seem to care. When we visited the bathrooms we decided to talk to the manager. The state of the bathrooms were awful. You can tell a lot about how a restaurant is managed by their bathrooms. I would hate for other diners to be decieved when making reservations. Location is about the only thing that is good. It’s time to close your doors Bodhi. Thank you for realizing that you’ve gone downhill.
Ryan Ng: Not bad for vegan yumcha but I have tried some better ones. If only they can limit the use of soy based products and use other ingredients to create the mock meat fillings for their dumplings or dimsum. The other downsides are that the place is a bit dark, and the chilli is not the yumcha chilli. At least I can see some creativity in their dishes.
Ben RJ: Fantastic experience all round as usual!
Timo Rissanen: Yum cha for six for a group of friends that hadn't seen in some years. We had the loveliest time, the staff were great and the food was divine as always.
Danielle Rich: my absolute favourite restaurant in sydney! everything is vegan, there’s a huge variety of flavours, all the food is presented so nicely & the staff are so lovely! will be back again for sure 💗
Raphael Hudson: The dumplings here are a knock out. One of the best vegetarian places around. Enjoyed a prior lunch more than dinner

Frankie Ian: One of the most disappointing Japanese restaurants I have been to before. The beef ramen had a very overpowering pepper flavour that overwhelmed everything else in the dish. I could only taste pepper.I would not recommend this restaurant.
Dean Fellner: Came here this week! The place has a very nice atmosphere and great friendly service. The food options on the menu was very unique. I had the beef rib ramen and ginger scallop and smoked chicken ramen. Enjoyed trying something different!! Chris T: Let's be honest, this is not at all a authentic Japanese restaurant. I had the beef rib with rice. The beef was a bit tough and dry. The sauce was sticky and sweet with no Japanese flavours. Don't get me wrong, it tastes healthier than most, it's just not Japanese...Food: 5/3|Service: 5/3|Atmosphere: 5/3 …More

Susan K: Ordered a ramen for my partner and curry for me. Partner finished his ramen just as my curry arrived . I had to go and check where it was.I make a better Japanese curry at home. This one was very grainy. Was asked how my food was when paying. Errr shouldn’t you offer a discount given you knew I had to ask where my food was and you saw how slow you were at bringing it out.Why bother go and spend $33 on a meal when you can just eat egg on toast at home. What a waste of time and money. Glad I didn’t buy a drink and spend more money there
Andrew Tran: Great little hidden tucked away cosy restaurant. The smoked duck with the green tea powder and wasabi was very interesting. The agedeshi tofu was lightly flavoured but at the right amount. The Tantan ramen was very flavourful and thick souped. And the mocktail drink was very fruity.Would definitely come againVegetarian options: They have vegetarian optionsDietary restrictions: They have vegan options
Gabriela B: I'm basing my review on the Karaage Bento Box only. It was good but nothing special. I've had a lot better in downtown Sydney. The Ramen soups did look very good so will try them next time but wouldn't come back for the Bento.Food: 5/3|Service: 5/4|Atmosphere: 5/4 …More
Amy Waight: Amazing food, slow cooked ribs were amazing! The squid was divine!!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Anita Smirnov: I love getting sushi from sushi hub. They have quite a few vegan options (4 large rolls and some inari), and I appreciate that most of their takeaway packaging is plastic free, just paper boxes. Super tasty, too!Vegetarian options: Good vegan options, they have plain and seaweed salad inari, 4 large rolls (cucumber and avo, teriyaki tofu, seaweed salad, vegetarian roll) and usually some small cut up cucumber rolls. There are also vegetarian tempura sushi options, which I was told aren't vegan.Dietary restrictions: Good vegan options, they have plain and seaweed salad inari, 4 large rolls (cucumber and avo, teriyaki tofu, seaweed salad, vegetarian roll) and usually some small cut up cucumber rolls.

Susan Street: I really enjoyed this sushi e experience, beautifully presented, totally edible food. Please try, you won’t be disappointed!
Admin: If I could give no stars I would.Only good thing to say was that the wagyu and soft shell crab were excellent. We had the tasting menu, everything else was mid.Cons: terrible intrusive service and rude waitresses. Waitresses continuously interrupted our conversation to ask if we would like more drinks. One waitress spilt our drink on my friends dior bag and new, very nice watch, she offered no apologies and fetched napkins to dry the table, totally neglecting to give us napkins to dry ourselves off (until we asked). I’m appalled by the service. The bar seating is also extremely uncomfortable offering no bag hooks under the table. The three of us spent $800. Would undoubtedly get better service at my local sushi train. To get in to the restaurant there is a bouncer at the door giving the impression we’re going in to a nightclub…he has to go through his tacky clipboard for 2 minutes before letting you in through the lift. Shockingly came out the staff/garbage lift (only lift available at the time) at the end of our night & the smell was so horrendous I almost threw up my meal.Summary - a painful, regrettable dining experience.
Anita H: The place was nice but the staff was not friendly at all and was quiet grumpy! Even though it was not a busy day the service was not great at all!The food quality however was good specially the Uramaki.
Chairs: Went on a Tuesday afternoon and sashimi was not fresh at all. Fish was rubbery and grainy like it was defrosted. Really disappointed in the quality given the prices. The sushi itself was cut poorly, some pieces were too thick and because of how bad the quality was, it was really hard to eat. Staff was fine however. We ordered two different cocktails but they tasted the same? A bit sad :(
Bonnie Huang: I had an absolutely delightful experience at Sushi e. The Wagyu Uramaki was nothing short of amazing - it was so tender and flavorful. The No.1 non-alcoholic cocktail was the perfect accompaniment to my meal - it was refreshingly delicious! The vibe at Sushi e was simply amazing - the ambiance was great and it was the perfect place to catch up with friends.

Jay S: Amazing fresh sushi quality and attentive service by the host and various servers. Enjoyed the tuna carpaccio and a variety of nigiri pieces including a5 wagyu with caviar, salmon, snapper, horse mackerel. Had a nice glass of Chablis wine to pair. Wouldn’t hesitate recommending to friends and family, check it out!
E L: Good food but pricey , would go somewhere else for better value. bad service , waitress gives you a vibe she doesn’t wanna serve you, would def not come again
Min Hur: Sushi restaurant at the Est Precinct, the quality of the sushis were great and it was made from fresh ingredients. They could improve on the options available for other foods and the prices were on the relatively high end.Food: 5/4|Service: 5/4|Atmosphere: 5/4Recommended dishes Sushi …More

W Ung: Lacklustre to say the least. I get you’re trying to provide the unique omakase experience ala *insert famous omakase restaurant here* but the price you pay just doesn’t quite add up in value.Barely any interaction from the chef, if I wanted to overextend and and overpay for medium quality of food I would have just gone to Nobu.On the bright side, I felt like I was in Rush 2 and the cocktails were decent.
Qianyun Mu: Avoid this place at all costs. Sashimi and nigiri are supposed to be fresh, but sashimi and nigiri were so smelly that they left a bad taste lingering in your mouth. How can a restaurant sell such expansive food with such bad quality? The food is so expensive but so cheap. Truly amazing.Food: 5/1|Service: 5/1|Atmosphere: 5/1 …More
Sam Robertson: Incredible food, amazing staff. Really have to commend everyone who served me and my partner as it was flawless.

m w: Still my favourite sushi place in Newtown. Quality has remained the same, salmon harami is the best if you love fatty salmon, service is great and they have increased their variety over the years. Get there around 6pm and usually there's no line but after that be prepared to wait a little while for a table.
George James: Tasty fresh sushi. Friendly service. Gets busy.

Ototo Japanese Fresh Food: what do users think?
Lyn: Weekday Lunch. Enjoyed Teriyaki Bento box. Good quality and tasty chicken. Authentic Japanese place.
Blue Yonder: While the food from here was ok (not great), the time it took to order & wait for it to be prepared was excruciatingly slow. Not helped by a cumbersome ordering procedure which included iPad & paper raffle ticket book, taken by staff member with the personality of an accountant. For the quality & amount of food the value is poor, even if you choose to avoid the whopping 5% surcharge by paying with cash. Don’t go out of your way to eat here. While Japan is highly regarded for its excellent customer service, this business is in no way a good example of that.
Julia Hunter: so yummy udon noodles, bento boxes it’s like bondi junction hidden secret soo soo yummy
Lizzy Pike: Worst service ever
Qianchuan Wang: Visited in 2020.4. Very horrible and upset service! The waiter rudely stopped me from entering the restaurant to get the food because the food was placed outside. She could have been much more polite. There is no reason that the waiter pour her anger to me because of the lockdown.
Sasha Kim: I really like their spicy fish udon soup, very tasty and simple. I wish they didn’t have to use single use bowls and cutlery though.
Alison Gallagher: Always good. Fresh, well cooked.
Maria Diaz: Hidden gem in Bondi!Best japanese curry I’ve ever had.1000/10 would recommend!
John Treloar: Good Bento shop cost effective service great
Juliawha Bea: Slow service, curry is more like a soup curry rather than a thick curry and very salty. Cute place but I'd avoid lunch rush if you're looking for something quick.Karaage is v good
Suan Yeo: Small tiny Japanese eatery tucked away on Oxford Street. Blink and you'll miss it. Great lunch options and everything is fresh and tasty. Bento boxes offer great variety (chicken karaage yum!), and the chicken sando is delicious! Very limited seating (6) so it's not a place for a big group.
astroboy3507: Traditional Japanese food!From Japanese owners!!!👌
Danni O: Best noodle soup ever!! Truly delicious
Marek Kubasiak: I was like OMG after eating here. Food is really good goys.
Mateusz Kwieciński: Very tasty food.I also liked the fact I was able to talk normally, ambient music wasn't disturbing at all.
Claire Y: My favourite Japanese place in Bondi junction! Really tasty food at a reasonable price - the people running the restaurant are lovely!
Tom Sawyer: spicy chilly chicken and curry with chicken karaage is my favourite, it would be good to have vegetables as sides
Lina (Laivelis): Little nice casual place for really tasty and fresh japanese food. Will will definitely come back!
Mike Langford: Deceptive pricing on stupidly expensive nigiri sushi, a pic showing 2 with a price of $3.50 but that's the price for one. I fell for it and an elderly gentleman was being confused by it while I was eating.) Lovely little restaurant, tasty food, just reduce the price of your nigiri!
Will 18: Cute casual Japanese home cooking in Bondi Junction. Freshly looked and tasty. During busy lunch times, the wait might be 20 minutes. Lots of Uber eat pickups.
erik van Iersel: Chicken Katsu don is one of the best I’ve had. I think they have the best miso around. Well worth coming in for a meal. I do wish they were open all the time.

Danny DN: I've walked past Zushi plenty of times but it never really crossed my mind that maybe it was worth dining at. That is until I was invited to go for lunch. And oh man... I had one of those moments where you have no other choice but to accept that your preconceived ideas about a place were absolutely wrong, and that maybe your compass and ability to judge things could do with refinement and tweaking. Yes, perhaps I had a bias over the fact that it was yet another Japanese restaurant in Surry Hills. But credit to Zushi for proving me otherwise. It was exquisite Japanese cooking of classic dishes and flavours, with an elevated touch of elegance and fresh, quality ingredients.Great service and outdoor seating felt a lot more casual than indoors which I prefer. Would recommend if you want to treat yourself to a very delicious meal without breaking the bank.
Glenn Shields-Biddle: Been around a while but still a hidden gem and one of the best modern Japanese restaurants in the area. I love everything about this place including sitting in the garden on a beautiful autumn day.Try the tempura prawns, I don’t know how they get them so light and fresh. There is also an amazing duck dish with the silkiest pumpkin I’ve ever tasted. Don’t delay and treat yourself if you haven’t been here before.
Agustina Alonso: I recently dined at Zushi and was blown away by the amazing customer service and delicious food. The restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout our meal. The sushi itself was fresh and expertly prepared, with a great variety of options to choose from.Overall, I highly recommend Zushi to anyone looking for a sushi restaurant in the Surry Hills area. They also have one in Barangaroo which is also pretty good.
Duke Kang: Dietary restrictions accommodated Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten free, Dairy free Recommendation for vegetarians Highly recommend Vegetarian offerings Vegetarian menu or section, Clearly labeled vegetarian dishesMore

He was professional, passionate and a joy to watch!Would definitely recommend others to try the Omakase by Chef Han :)Also, big shout out to the wait staff who would constantly refill our water and remove our empty dishes. Such attentive staff should be commended and praised at any opportunity.
Oswaldo González: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Wagyu Steak, Sashimi TacosMore
Geoff Freeman: Delicious and great value, quality food. Best Japanese in Surry Hills
Stephen Luu: Miller was very professional and courteous. Thank you very much for the excellent service from the A team of waiters and waitress. This was the first time that I had dinner with my friend at Zushi Surry Hills. It was the result from the recommendation from one of my other friends.Vegetarian options: Mixed vegetables tempura was also very yummy
scotty f: Incredible food! Best Japanese in Sydney and when u consider the price it's not even close - amazing restaurant! Can't recommend it enough!
Joanne Wendy: Had the set menu and sat outside. Fantastic food and great value. Will definitely go back and highly recommend.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Teriyaki Duck, Honey Prawns, Chicken Karaage, Kingfish Carpaccio, Sashimi …More
F Mintarja: The chicken karaage is overcooked.Overall is good
Shirley: Ok food, but overpriced.
Giovanna Masciulli: The place is beautiful, the waiters are very willing to attend, I liked that a lot. and the food is delicious, I recommend it
KNG555 JR: Zushi was an overall good experience, the food was 4/5 however the service was below than average. I don’t want to go into too much details but really wasn’t impressed at all.
Simon Bright: Great, fresh food. My go too !!

Sushi Hub QVB: what do users think?
Tom Maynard: The girl called Kelsey was so organised and so very polite I normally don’t notice the staff but she was out standing what a perfect workerFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
# 8DVNMUSIC: Crowded at lunch, food price increased after COVID time, but excellent sashimiFood: 5/4|Service: 5/4|Atmosphere: 5/3 …More
Nicole Ross: the best sushi hub imo, always tastes fresh enough and efficient service
Glenn (nnelg): The sushi was so good. The little boxes they put them in are also nice. There is a lot of sushi and they look very interesting.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/4 …More
Nicole: not bad
Elle: Sushi was tasty but not worth the simultaneous vomiting and diarrhoea it gave me after eating it
Benjamin Johnson: Great sushi! And used to be so affordable, but that has now changed. The prices have sky rocketed 🚀
Susan Hauser: Such fresh 🍣 and very reasonable price. Lots of variety too. Eel was delicious.
Nic Yeap: This store was super duper busy but there was only 5 staff I can see during the lunch time peak hours to produce the nice and fresh sushi for us to enjoy. I can't imagine how hardwork how tired their staff was going through...So glad to have them here to solve my lunch meal with fast service and nice food.
Niki Li: Nice and easy for weekdays’ lunch 🍣
Zoe White: Impressed with the freshness and range of sushi, and especially with the GF labelling - made it very easy for me (gluten intolerant) to choose a range of yummy options !
T D: Sushi Hub does their rice better than many other similar chains.
Aleksandra Spasov: While the sushi is always good, the service is really bad. The girl that was serving me just grabbed the rolls without even paying the attention to not destroy them, and there were just too many people served at the same time, with no order.I’ve visited Sushi Hub on so many locations, but this one was far worse than any of them.
George Orwell: 3 stars for the sushi. Deducting 2 stars for the service. The service is just plain bad.
Saroj Pande: Best sushi in sydney
Jeena Gurung: Honestly the worst experience I have ever had Sushi is average not worst but one of the lady wearing glasses working there is so rude and May be she should learn how to treat customer. It was little busy and I ordered cheese chicken dragon and she was looking at me and saying it’s not cheese chicken it’s chicken dragon even her facial expression was terrible.Never ever coming back again and don’t recommend at all.
Sergei Melnichuk: So tasty
KK: Tasty fresh sushi.
R3B: Great sushi, bad customer service.
dolanuch mangkalangkun: I usually buy sushi from this place every week before I start my work 6.30 pm. Usually the service is ok I did not expect much from take away shop but 2 weeks ago and today the service was terrible because some girl staffs are more likely to take a selfie or play with their phone instead of taking order or serve costumer. Today the boy staff was serving costumer but 2 girls was taking a selfie while me waiting for them to finish selfie and look at the phone and chatting to each other. I have to say the food always good that is why I keep coming back every week but service just getting terrible.
