When I asked for an item she said, “we don’t have everything online.” And instead of asking what I was doing and she dismissed me saying she can look at other stores. I asked where the framing section was and there was PLENTY of alternatives to what I was looking for.Really disappointing. When she did tell me about the other store available she made it like I bothered her to find the information.

ashby sean: The guy serving me was very helpful. However go your online research. Many of the popular quality brands sell via Amazon or direct nowadays. The shop in Sydney CBD was easy to get to. Just don’t buy anything large. Order it online.

Bora: “Shopping is supposed to be fun” but what I experienced today at this shop was very disappointing.When I said at the reception ‘can I pay by my card?’, the girl said “Go for it”. I was not happy already how she had spoken to me as soon as I came inside the shop so when I heard how off-handedly she was speaking saying ‘yep’ at that time, I knew she was not nice. I’m not a friend, I’m a customer. It was not in a friendly or professional tone so I immediately asked her “Go for it?” She replied “Yep”. I asked her “do you normally speak to customers like that?” She replied without any hesitation “Yep” again. I was quite surprised to hear that she replied with no embarrassment or questioning herself why she was being asked. I couldn’t help myself to say to her “That’s not friendly either” and I saw her big “SMIRKING”. At this point I realised that I was dealing with something beyond my capacity to understand so all I wanted to do was getting out of the shop ASAP and saying to myself “I never want to come back here again”. Just before getting out of there, another (older) male shop assistant (I hoped he was a shop manager and willing to listen) was standing near the door so I said to him “that girl is not nice” and I received another his big “SMIRKING” so that confirmed me there is no good customer relationship training provided here or some other reason they behave like that. I have avoided to come and shop here for a while due to my previous not so good experiences but I tried and failed again today. I thought shops were trying to encourage people back into stores after 2 years of Covid on-line sales, perhaps I was wrong?

Hester Leung: Cool little shop right in the hub of the city. While it hasn’t got the pigmented ink from Art spectrum I was looking for, there are good quality alternatives available.

dandan pubby: This has to be the worst customer experience I have ever had.I came to the store today (23/05/2023 at 11am) to look for a piece of acetate sheet. I stood by the counter and was ready for check out. Since there was no one at the counter, I rang the bell. The sales lady unwillingly came over. She asked if I was a member, I said no. She then proceeded to ask for my surname. I couldn’t hear what she asked, so I asked her to repeat herself. She repeated herself and I answered her. To which I felt very strange, as I am not a member and I came to only purchase a piece of acetate sheet. She went on to ask for my given name. Again she was mumbling, I did not hear her clearly so I asked her to repeat herself. After she repeated the question, I asked her if it was necessary to know my given name. In a very blunt manner, she said that I told her I was a member. I reiterated that I am not. She responded by stating that I should speak clearly. I replied by saying that it goes both ways as I couldn’t hear her properly either. ‘Excuse me?’ she said with a detestable look on her face. She then flared her temper at me told me to ‘Just go’.The sales lady was very unprofessional and clearly lack customer service skills. The interaction I had with her left me feeling very disrespected, I will never come back. If all staff are like her, I would strongly advice people to not purchase from this store.

Roland Arvidssen: I normally don't like leaving poor reviews, but under the circumstances I feel a sense of responsibility to warn other visitors, and possibly provide feedback that might improve the customer experience for others.I was very disappointed by my visit to Eckersley's; the staff (Jessica, who completed my checkout, and a very slim young woman wearing glasses and a septum piercing) were disinterested going on comatose and made me feel as if they couldn't wait until I had left so they could get back to whatever they'd been doing before I came in -- which frankly didn't seem like much. They were both perched behind the counter and did nothing to greet or engage with me; if there had been a line of people waiting to make their purchases, I would not have minded about this in the slightest, but I was one of only two customers at the store, and the other person paid and left soon after my arrival.The range of pigments available was limited to only a display stand of Jacquard items, which was patchily stocked at best, and I was astounded that there were no pre-cut origami sheets available -- as there are in every other Eckersley's branch I've ever visited. I am a huge fan of this brand, and its stores are normally characterised by an inspiring kaleidoscope of colour and creativity. Not so in the case of Chatswood Chase, I'm afraid; the St Leonard's branch is just down the road, you would do better to visit that one instead.

Smart Kitty: I went into the store this afternoon and there was only one customer and a staff member inside. When the other customer left, the staff member came and stood close to me while I was looking at the books on the shelf. At no time did she offer to help, or attempt to do anything else, until another customer came in, who she greeted. I was made to feel extremely uncomfortable with no justification and was very unlike my previous experiences with the Eckersley's store in the city, where the staff are extremely friendly and willing to help, but also give you the space to browse. Overall it felt very hostile and deliberately directed towards me. When I did actually buy something she didn't ask if I had a membership card even though I am a regular customer at Eckersley's. However I won't be returning - I'll go to the city store instead where I actually feel welcome and not made to feel like a thief.

Marg Boutilier: Small shop for local arts & crafts. Mostly jewelry, pottery, scarves. I saw no paintings. Very friendly shop. I purchased a nice 4x6" copper piece depicting Sydney Opera House.
Magdalene Phillips: This is run by great volunteers and their combined understanding of the local artists/crafters is fantastic. It’s not your cheap art & crafts but totally reasonable when you see the one off pieces and worth it when you’re supporting these local artists. Definitely worth taking a piece home.
