Just finished a serie of IYT courses with Sydney By Sail after joining their ‘Introduction to Yatching’ experience and absolutely loved it. The instructors are fantastic. Knowledgeable, kind and patient, they never make us feel silly to ask any question and are keen to teach. Amazing fleet of luxury boats to spend days learning to sail in iconic Sydney Harbour and beyond!

I have always dreamt of sailing in the Sydney Harbour. However, I was in Sydney for only two days and thought that my chances of arranging a skippered sailing experience were nil.

I searched online for a tour, but being Friday, I had little luck of finding one. So I decided to walk down to “Sydney By Sail”

And just ask. I was greeted by Ed, who was amazingly friendly and courteous. To my surprise, he arranged for my guests and I to sail with Skipper Aaron on their Dufour 310 in the evening.

Aaron was fantastic. And before sailing, Ed sent us off with a beautiful gift — a magnificent charcuterie box.

After and afternoon storm, the wind died down, so Aaron motored us to a place where we could raise the sails and enjoy the breeze and the Harbour.

The motor was so quiet, that even while motoring, the ride was spectacular. We happened to go under the Sydney Harbour bridge as the cruise ship Ovation of the Seas from Royal Caribbean was beginning its voyage.

On our return journey, skies turned dark with a bit of rain (for which we were provided rain coats) which provided an extraordinary background to see the lights of Sydney shine on the Harbour waters — a sight I’ll never forget.

It was a magical and unforgettable experience — one I highly recommend.

What an excellent experience. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We booked an overnight yacht B&B experience that included a 3 hours sail for our anniversary. Everything was almost perfect – from the decoration to the food! Absolutely recommended for a special day!

This was my first time ever on a boat and I must say what a great experience it has been.

He let us take charge of the boat steering and also taught us how to work our way around the sails.

I would highly recommend this to everyone and also check out the different packages they offer.

Excellent afternoon sailing on the harbour. The Skipper Chris was great; he let people become as involved as they wanted to be. So drinks and cheese for some, and winching and helming for others.
