I know it’s a bit late to have any expectations, but I’ll be honest about it anyway :)There were only cheese buns left as pastries, so we took the last chocolate balls. They’ve got way too much cacao in them, or too dark chocolate. Unsure, but they’re not in the Swedish standard.There wasn’t any coffee left when we arrived, so had to wait 10min for it.Also had the Scandi-avo, it’s a bit funny that it includes strawberries and fefferoni peppers. I know both items commonly appear in Swedish dishes, but never together? 😂I love that the staff would happily speak Norwegian with us Swedes, that truly makes it feel at home Having more Swedish pastries available, even for late-comers, would make me increase the star rating!✌️

An egotistic Koala: The food and atmosphere was bomb! I got the Scando Avo and an iced coffee, and both did not disappoint. The sweetness of the strawberries went unexpectedly well with the avocado and feta. And the coffee had the perfect amount of milk to espresso ratio. My friends and I sat inside; it was very cosy and there were some books to look at in the corner while we waited for our food. The customer service, like everything else, was also really good. I would definitely come again!

Michelle T: I’ve always been a big fan of Nomad, though wasn’t a big fan of my experience last night. Loads of staff, who were attentive. Though training could be provided as had three different people wiped our table one after the other even though it was clean (was a tad intrusive especially given we were on a two hour time limit and it took 20 mins to be served). Food was great as usual! - what I wasn’t happy about is that we were rounded up well before the 8pm sitting end. 20 minutes early in fact. And worst case was that we paid cash and no one brought back the change. The person who was pushing us to leave, miraculously disappeared. Tips are at the discretion of the customer and it’s extremely rude not to bring back change to allow choice.

Nate: I'm not a huge fan of emulsions.There were a lot of emulsions on the menu.I'd still rate it 5/5 as they were all delicious and opened my tastes to new experiences.Not only is the food exceptional, but the substitutions are well thought out and just as high quality. If you can't eat one of the dishes they have beautifully crafted alternatives to cater. This is a key thing for many people, particularly vegetarians or people who don't each shellfish.Each dish is amazingly balanced, together with its component. Some dishes you might try a piece of and be unsure about, but if you take care to get a bit of each piece of the dish (sauce, or broth or garnish etc) together, then it creates a harmonious flavour.The service as well is lovely and actually read our booking notes before we arrived. They were prepared and knowledgeable about the food, wine, and available alternatives.Excellent and will be back again.

Not sure if it was just me, but I felt like the sequence of dishes were also very green for some odd reason, and not as much color variations.Service is great, can't complain. Elle Mac: Really wanted to enjoy Automata as it has been so lauded and well reviewed. Sadly, with its impending closing, the heart and soul seems to be dimming here and the fatigue comes through in the food, service, and ambience. Chef was entirely unsolicitous and disinterested when he dropped off the snacks. Those were impressively delicious, but the taste experience dwindled (issues with flavor combinations, salt levels, textural contrasts, temperature), with few high points until desserts where the pastry chef/team seemingly still has joy. However, every course was brought with unenthusiastic, monotone recitation of ingredients and a hurriedness to get back to the kitchen. Nobody asked how we were enjoying anything. All of this in a space so concrete cold, lacking edgy energy of industrial chic or enough warm human engagement (a harried, but friendly server softened the coolness somewhat). It was a disappointment among a week’s worth of otherwise terrific dining at many of Sydney's highly recommended restaurants, stalwart and new. Finally, without begrudging the need to price higher given global and local issues, it nonetheless felt out of step in contrast to the prix fixes elsewhere for the overall experience. With a few weeks to go, hope it finishes on a higher note.

I came with a friend and we both really did not enjoy the food, the combinations werent great and perhaps it was too experimental/unusual for our taste. Most dishes there was something we disliked and only 2 dishes, the wagyu and mandarin sorbet dish did we enjoy. The service was amazing and i’m sure it just wasnt to our taste given the many high rated reviews.

We asked to take a dessert dish home which was accommodated. Overall, we’ve had much more interesting and welcoming fine dining experiences elsewhere.

The wine bottle is not placed on the table, so if I run out of wine in my glass, I had to wait until a waiter comes to pour. I am not usually one for "fancy" food, but I tried to keep an open mind here and I'm so glad I did. I tried all the options and each element was delicious. I had not even heard of eating pearl meat, but it was wonderful. If you are unsure of a new food item, this is an ideal place to try them.

I had my first bite and couldn’t finish it as it was extremely chewy/rubbery, so i asked my husband to swap with me as I thought it was just to my taste. He had a bite as well and confirmed it was so chewy and rubbery, and could not finish it.We told the server who was helping our table but didn’t receive any apology whatsoever, or offered to change it. But she did acknowledge though as she saw that the wagyu was barely halved. So we were confused if it was a language barrier or she just didn’t know what to do. Very awkward, but we just didn’t want to cause a scene.Overall, we wanted to love it as it was for our anniversary, but i don’t think it’s worth it unfortunately.

Sandra Gounden: I organised a high tea to celebrate my friend’s milestone birthday on the 26/3/23. To begin with they didn’t have the teas that we requested. We were given just one sandwich each, which was stale. This was suppose to be an ‘Easter high tea’ but had absolutely nothing relating to Easter. When I enquirer about this, I was presented with brownies, which were rock hard and couldn’t be cut. I did call the next day and was told that someone in management would give me a call, still waiting!!!!Overall a very disappointing experience. At $75 per person, you’d be better off spending your had earned money at the Sheraton for their high tea or even Lilianfels which are much cheaper and better quality in my experience.

Xuan Pham: A good dining experience. The highlight of the night was certainly the beef tartare, probably the best I’ve ever tasted. The live jazz was incomparable. The only (and major) downside was the service - we felt extremely rushed, with the waiters removing our entree plates literally as we were still eating, with food still in our hands and on our forks. It was absolutely bizarre. Furthermore, one waiter quite condescendingly asked whether we knew what foie gras was, proceeded to call us “girls” the whole night, and then pretended to not understand us as we ordered the Gamay wine, despite our perfectly fine pronunciation. I felt a distinct power dynamic that should not have existed in such a fine restaurant.

Nathan Marsh: We had a simply marvellous experience at Hubert! The staff in this venue are exceptional and everyone was incredibly lovely. There is something special about Hubert and it is a testament to the people who work here. It is obvious that the staff are all very proud of where they work and so they should be, as they are what make experiences like ours happen.Our wait staff were all very knowledgeable about the menu and all had personal recommendations, plus nothing was too hard. You can always tell when a restaurant has given their team the opportunity to really experience the food and these guys were passionate. From the moment we entered, to the moment we left, we were made to feel welcome and special.The sommelier was patient and very accomodating with helping us chose a wine. I am not an expert in describing what I want, but I know what I like and with a couple of tastings, he helped us achieve that, while remaining within our price guide. The food blew our mind! Every dish had something unique to offer and nothing disappointed. The small plates were the absolute winner for me and I think next time I will opt for more of those instead of venturing into the mains. The crab espelette was incredible! Fresh and buttery at the same time. The flavour of the sea was still there, but it managed to balance a richness that left you wanted soooo much more. I would have loved to have seen some more options on the menu in terms of the larger plates. Perhaps a ‘Hubert version’ of some classics such as Beef Bourguinon, coq au vin, or a cassoulet. However, I could not fault anything and could taste the love in everything we selected. I will definitely be back to try the chicken fricassèe. A huge shout out to the person who take our coats, to whoever washed our plates, you are all making magic. It was the best experience we have had in a while and made my partners birthday extra special.

Skip Ford: We had our 25th wedding anniversary dinner with overseas guests (they had chosen chiswick as one of their must visit venues while in Sydney for 4 days!) We could only get an 8.30pm booking as nothing else was available. After getting our guests on arrival and sitting they took a wine order and not 5 minutes later the share menu food started arriving, without a great deal of explanation. It kept arriving quickly and our first course was just about finished before our first drink arrived. We asked them of they could slow down as we were feeling rushed. All the food was lovely it was only the tuna that was underwhelming. The service was efficient but not super welcoming. Dessert was amazing and we had coffee. Not long after we were told that as it is residential the premises was to be vacated by 11pm no question. We were told this 3 times in a rather firm manner. Quite disappointing for our 25th anniversary celebrations and a boll of $1500.00 ! We won't be returning I'm a hurry.
