A waitress offered us oysters, but when I refused, she gave us a disapproving look.3. A waitress tried to immediately take down a plate of food that had not been completely eaten, which made me uncomfortable. Some customers want to eat a little at a time.4. The wine bottle is not placed on the table, so if I run out of wine in my glass, I had to wait until a waiter comes to pour. If the service does not allow pouring wine into empty glasses, it should be abolished.

I am not usually one for "fancy" food, but I tried to keep an open mind here and I'm so glad I did. I tried all the options and each element was delicious. I had not even heard of eating pearl meat, but it was wonderful. If you are unsure of a new food item, this is an ideal place to try them.

I had my first bite and couldn’t finish it as it was extremely chewy/rubbery, so i asked my husband to swap with me as I thought it was just to my taste. He had a bite as well and confirmed it was so chewy and rubbery, and could not finish it.We told the server who was helping our table but didn’t receive any apology whatsoever, or offered to change it. But she did acknowledge though as she saw that the wagyu was barely halved. So we were confused if it was a language barrier or she just didn’t know what to do. Very awkward, but we just didn’t want to cause a scene.Overall, we wanted to love it as it was for our anniversary, but i don’t think it’s worth it unfortunately.

Sandra Gounden: I organised a high tea to celebrate my friend’s milestone birthday on the 26/3/23. To begin with they didn’t have the teas that we requested. We were given just one sandwich each, which was stale. This was suppose to be an ‘Easter high tea’ but had absolutely nothing relating to Easter. When I enquirer about this, I was presented with brownies, which were rock hard and couldn’t be cut. I did call the next day and was told that someone in management would give me a call, still waiting!!!!Overall a very disappointing experience. At $75 per person, you’d be better off spending your had earned money at the Sheraton for their high tea or even Lilianfels which are much cheaper and better quality in my experience.

Expect an a la carte experience at a reasonable price point. Their menus do change seasonally, however if you do see the wagyu tartare with caviar on the appetiser menu again do yourself a favour by ordering it. A friend suggested to get their mashed potatoes and it was textbook. Reminded me of my childhood. We had to wait excessively long for our food, and even though our drinks were empty, they were not refilled. I decided to do the wine paring and for someone that knows the globalwine scene quite well, I was particularly impressed with our sommelier Vikki. Her knowledge and understanding of wine was outstanding and this really helped turn a great night into an absolutely incredible evening. Xuan Pham: A good dining experience. The highlight of the night was certainly the beef tartare, probably the best I’ve ever tasted. The live jazz was incomparable. The only (and major) downside was the service - we felt extremely rushed, with the waiters removing our entree plates literally as we were still eating, with food still in our hands and on our forks. It was absolutely bizarre. Furthermore, one waiter quite condescendingly asked whether we knew what foie gras was, proceeded to call us “girls” the whole night, and then pretended to not understand us as we ordered the Gamay wine, despite our perfectly fine pronunciation. I felt a distinct power dynamic that should not have existed in such a fine restaurant.

Nathan Marsh: We had a simply marvellous experience at Hubert! The staff in this venue are exceptional and everyone was incredibly lovely. There is something special about Hubert and it is a testament to the people who work here. It is obvious that the staff are all very proud of where they work and so they should be, as they are what make experiences like ours happen.Our wait staff were all very knowledgeable about the menu and all had personal recommendations, plus nothing was too hard. You can always tell when a restaurant has given their team the opportunity to really experience the food and these guys were passionate. From the moment we entered, to the moment we left, we were made to feel welcome and special.The sommelier was patient and very accomodating with helping us chose a wine. I am not an expert in describing what I want, but I know what I like and with a couple of tastings, he helped us achieve that, while remaining within our price guide. The food blew our mind! Every dish had something unique to offer and nothing disappointed. The small plates were the absolute winner for me and I think next time I will opt for more of those instead of venturing into the mains. The crab espelette was incredible! Fresh and buttery at the same time. The flavour of the sea was still there, but it managed to balance a richness that left you wanted soooo much more. I would have loved to have seen some more options on the menu in terms of the larger plates. Perhaps a ‘Hubert version’ of some classics such as Beef Bourguinon, coq au vin, or a cassoulet. However, I could not fault anything and could taste the love in everything we selected. I will definitely be back to try the chicken fricassèe. A huge shout out to the person who take our coats, to whoever washed our plates, you are all making magic. It was the best experience we have had in a while and made my partners birthday extra special.

That includes a tasting plate with 4 bite-sized experiences. 2 of them I liked very much, simply delicious. The sweet corn soup was good. And one of the options was very salty for my taste.Talking about salt, I would like to suggest to the chef to keep a little bit of salt at the table to enhance the flavours of the three types of olive oils on the table.The experience is great, although for the first and third olive oil option the salt bring more the fruitness of the third oil and balance better the lemon olive oil.Regarding the dish, I can say is one of the best pasta dishes I've had in Sydney. I had the blond duck bolognese and was perfect in every bite. Be aware, the dish has nothing even close to a traditional bolognese. Is a white sauce base dish. But was amazing. Well balanced and executed. My wife had the ravioli, and was perfect as well. But my favourite was the duck.We had the merengue dessert, such well thought dish. Where we got an entree for the dessert, that was a new thing for me, and then the dessert well balanced with all elements right. Sweet, acidity, crunchy.About the wine service, was very good with attention to detail. Nothing to complain about it.At the end we got nice chocolate balls 😋. Sesame Sprinkles: Pendolino is an Italian restaurant, which serves food in either 3-, 4- or 6-course menus. Upon request, they provide an extra menu for vegans. For each course, you can choose from a couple of options, so you have several options (similar to the "regular" menu).Considering the fact that the prices here are quite high (starting at 140$ per person for the 3 course menu), you should be able to expect a proper fine dining experience.In terms of food, however, it was just okay. I clearly preferred some dishes over other dishes. Compared to the food my non-vegan friends had, some vegan dishes seemed a bit lacking (as if they had simply removed the non-vegan component). At other times, the plating was a bit "questionable".But staff was lovely and service was very good. There were several waiters and waitresses providing us with information about food and drinks, and even supplied us with extra treats on the house.The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor inside a shopping mall. Compliments to the chef. If I needed to find something about this restaurant would be the price but overall an amazing night. Just an apology for leaving late, im sure the staff warned to go home but no one complained. And a huge thank you to the chefs who gave up complementary potatoes and salad. Guy Soper: This was the worst restaurant ive ever experienced. Only got half of what was ordered off the menu .Everything was more french cuisine than Italian in ridiculously small portions . I got something in a cup of olive oil with corn kernels at the bottom , they were stuck so the owner approached me and asked if i would like a little spoon like the mice and rats use ! I’ve been many times now for dinner (maybe 6 times- I’ve lost count!) and always had amazing food, drinks and excellent service. I always highly recommend it. It’s in such a perfect location overlooking Balmoral beach and has a great atmosphere. The menu has so many great choices, usually deciding what to get is the hardest part!

WESWW05: I was out with a business group and found it to be wonderful. A local suggested it although I would have never picked it on my own due to the name, don’t make that mistake. They have a nice wine selection and a low key atmosphere. The wait staff were excellent and so was the food. I shared a lamb shank with a colleague and there was enough for others to join in. The wharf area was beautiful in the sun and sparkled at nighttime.

Skip Ford: We had our 25th wedding anniversary dinner with overseas guests (they had chosen chiswick as one of their must visit venues while in Sydney for 4 days!) We could only get an 8.30pm booking as nothing else was available. After getting our guests on arrival and sitting they took a wine order and not 5 minutes later the share menu food started arriving, without a great deal of explanation. It kept arriving quickly and our first course was just about finished before our first drink arrived. We asked them of they could slow down as we were feeling rushed. All the food was lovely it was only the tuna that was underwhelming. The service was efficient but not super welcoming. Dessert was amazing and we had coffee. Not long after we were told that as it is residential the premises was to be vacated by 11pm no question. We were told this 3 times in a rather firm manner. Quite disappointing for our 25th anniversary celebrations and a boll of $1500.00 ! We won't be returning I'm a hurry.

Jordan Km: My partner and I visited O-bar yesterday evening for a belated birthday dinner for him. I was extremely excited to go here and my family kindly helped us pay to have some snacks and drinks here as a present for him. Straight out of the elevator the first thing we were met with was quite a strong smell of sewage. At first I thought maybe we were right next to the bathrooms but we weren’t, and even then it was really unpleasant and not how I expected my first impression to be. Then for the bar snacks we ordered sweet potato fries (which were lovely) and the feta and chilli hummus dips (each dip was $14 which I thought was very expensive). When I ordered I asked what the feta and hummus came with and the waitress said bread which I was pleased with. When the food arrived however we received a single half a piece of sourdough each and that was it. I was really surprised about this as I assumed surely each dip would have at least come with half a piece of bread on their own let alone me having ordered two, if that was the way they chose to serve the food. There were two of us, two dips and half a piece of bread each. I wasn’t sure if we were just supposed to eat the rest with a spoon and honestly for the price both were really average. Later on when we both had our drinks I decided to ask if there was anything else small on the menu we could order as I was still hungry and the waitress said there was in fact extra bread for $3. I was more than happy to order and pay for that (which I did) however I wish that this would have at least been offered alongside the dips, or better they just give you more accompaniments in the first place. During our experience there the smell of sewage didn’t really go away either and none of the wait staff addressed it. Finally when I went to pay I was asked if I would like to add a tip and I said no. I then noticed on my receipt that an almost $11 gratuity tip had been added? I wasn’t sure if this was just standard and the tip was meant to be extra or if this was the tip and the lady didn’t press no on the machine but I was really unhappy about it. Normally I would have just left it. But this was meant to be a one off amazing experience and it wasn’t. The place smelled terrible, and we spent nearly $42 on bar snacks and received half a piece of bread and that was it, on top of spending $142 overall including the drinks. I do want to be transparent and say the staff were lovely and refunded me the gratuity amount which I did feel really awful about. They were all pleasant no issues there. It was more the lack of value for money, the poor smelling environment, overpriced and very average tasting food.
